So what. If you got a job to do, and can't cut it, I don't care how hard or easy it is. You got a job to do.

So if you do a gig and more or less nail everything, but your guitar player blows a bunch of stuff, is it "ok" because "guitar is harder than bass".

Or, lets keep it with your argument. You nail most everything on bass, but your singer blows lyrics left and right, and is off key half the night.

Is that OK because he has the harder job??

I don't think that audience would see it that way.

Keith Moon taught Zak how to play drums; hence, he plays drums for The Who.

That's the difference between Zak playing drums and Pino playing bass. Zak does a great number on Keith's drum parts; nobody alive could begin to "fill" the sonic void left wide open by John's death.

If Daltrey were so bad that he couldn't squeeze out a single note - like Roger Waters can't, but still banks on world tours... - then I'd agree.

But here's a point: Daltrey can't sing now like "he used to." But guess what - neither can Bob Dylan!

Anybody here got the balls to say that Bob Dylan should stop touring or recording because his voice is different and older-sounding now than when he recorded his hits?

I got a self-satisfied smirk and a kick out of them playing "Won't Get Fooled Again." At least they didn't play My Generation. ;)

Also, for all the people talking about pay, the Superbowl doesn't pay its performers.

EDIT: I saw Dylan in 2006, and yes, I have the balls to say the man should stop touring and performing. His voice doesn't sound different, it sounds like crap. Like Tom Waits gargling glass through a vocoder crap. And that's coming from someone who loves "bad" singers like Waits & (older) Dylan.

I was kinda disappointed they didn't do "My Generation".. I was really curious to see and hear if Pino could pull that solo off.. My observations were musically, pretty much spot-on w/only a handful of miscues.. I thought Pino covered his part very well. Vocally, better than Springsteen's SB appearance, but it was obvious to me that towards the end of the set they were getting winded..

dylan still sells out stadiums and arenas. why should he quit because his voice isn't what it used to be? you paid to see him...there must have been a reason.

besides, this is ridiculous...roger may have lost a couple high notes, but he still sings way better than the vast majority of young singers out there. any band would be very lucky to have someone who sings that well, regardless of his age.

If your 50+ I guess it did. If you're 30 something it was about as boring as last year, and the year before that. Why does it always have to be old bands that are lip syncing. Why not Weezer, Greenday, Radiohead, Tool, Coldplay, KOL, etc??? I heard the only reason the who performed is because CBS uses their songs for lead in to all the CSI shows and they owed it to CBS as part of the deal. A medley is not rock'n out!

I know better than to get sucked into this internet foolishness, yet it happened.

So......

I'm going to try and out on a high note (pun intended) and say kudos to them for DOING IT LIVE, warts and all (with the few exceptions already noted).

That's more than many, if not most, modern "bands" would have done.

The bands don't determine the slot time for the Halftime show.

And I'd love to hear your definition of "has beens."

One buddy who watched the show with us said that The Who "were gay."

He's an avid Lady Gaga fan. :eyebrow: Just sayin'.

Because I was idling under the mistaken assumption that the ticket was going to act as a time-machine.

There were also the good-looking girls me and my buddy went to the show with.;)

All that said, though, you do have a solid point, and if he enjoys touring (and despite what I had to say, he certainly seemed like he was digging it), I'm certainly not going to stop him.
