I have a Yamaha RBX 800 (not for sale), and was wondering if anyone had any info on this rather rare bass. Any information would be apreciated: prices, history, or if you own one. I'll try to post a pic as soon as I take one.

The Yamaha RBX 800 Bass

i got speaking to some guy who was playing bassin the pub one night i was in and he had one of those! i really liked it and had a wee play. he explained to me that he had to get it imported from japan...and that's all i remember
i also remember it catching my eye as it had a head simillar to a jackson...if i remember correctly which is doubtful

By the way, is the current RBX line going to get new models? It seems that in North AMerica the RBX270 has been discontinued, but here in Europe we still can get it.

Also available in a fretless version. Your bass is active correct?, if so it would actually be called RBX800A, and the fretless version would be RBX800AF.

I'd never heard of the model and didn't find references to it on the Web, but it looked like a good deal. When I got the bass, it needed some minor work: truss rod tightening, saddle adjustment, and new strings. But when I finished with the setup and plugged it in, I was stunned at the sound. The bass had a remarkable presence and handled beautifully. The fit and finish were typical high-end Yamaha. I'm not a collector; I'm a player, and my stock of basses amounts to only three (an Alembic, a Modulus, and a highly-modified Precision), but if I could find another of these beauties, I'd be tempted to buy it. Question for you Yamaha experts: why are there so few of them (not another one has shown up on eBay)? Does anyone else out there play one or have experience with them?"

i've own a yamaha rbx800a but my'n looks as if its been modified because it has loads of diffrent details from any 800a i've ever seen i'll try and get some pictures of it on here and then can some plz tell me why it looks loads diffrent from any model i've ever seen.....were any special models made?
I have a RBX800af Fretless sister to your bass. Even rarer from what I understand. Same woodgrain is there as yours, just not showing in my quickie photos.

on my model all the hardware is black but you can see gold underneath it so it must hav been sprayed.. hell of nice looking bass tho i'm looking for another 1 if anyone knows of 1 for sale it would be a big help
It may be because the RBX basses came with a sharkfin style piece of plastic you could attach to the headstock.Some put it on,others didn't.

oh thank you so much...i've had the thing a yr and i've been trying to find out wht the hell it was...i'm a bit depressed now...my search for another rbx800a has failed but i've found 1 just as nice...an epiphone thunder bird arctic white but i still love my yamaha .....never eva get tired of it ...........thanx again

I'm new to this site. I came across it because I was seeking more information about the RBX800A. I have owned one of these guitars for about eight years now and I absolutely love it. Its my main instrument for when I am on stage and in studio. I think the headstock shape is superb and its thin neck is ideal for my little hands to negotiate it properly.
Mine is in a pearl white finish with a mostly black coloured headstock. All the hardware is black and the serial number is nz09105.
