So Anyway, when the post claimed 'This Is Something You Don't See Everyday'... there was a very good reason.

Not sure where to start. ... I guess the 70's kind'a explained themselves by now. ... A good guess is, the 'Caped Crusader' was named Robin and born in July.

I can recall a time 65-67 when I could only dream of having a jewel like this. Keep it, you belong to it, don't break it's heart. Not sure where to start. ... I guess the 70's kind'a explained themselves by now. ... A good guess is, the 'Caped Crusader' was named Robin and born in July.

It was an 11 year old bass when it was refinished, akin to a 2011 American Jazz being refined today…

Keep in mind that in 1972 that was just an old bass.

Absolutely. In '71 as a kid in high school, I bought a Fender jazz for $100, when indeed it was just a used Fender. Also very popular to reshape/mod the livin' crap out of them. I know I did. Reshaped, made it a P/J, bad ass bridge, brass nut and parallel/series switch. Still have it and gig it occasionally.

It's actually kind of cool that people did this kind of thing - substantially altering a bass. They weren't collectors' items, they were just tools, and there wasn't so much reverence for the pedigree.
I think that Craigslist bass is actually kind of cool. It's just the asking price and the justification for it based on the pedigree that I find dumb.
I’m sure I saw that paint job on a chopper in Sturgis in the mid-70s. Nobody there parked next to it either. Not sure where to start. ... I guess the 70's kind'a explained themselves by now. ... A good guess is, the 'Caped Crusader' was named Robin and born in July.
