The difference is you're not trying to hawk it now for 6 grand.Absolutely. In '71 as a kid in high school, I bought a Fender jazz for $100, when indeed it was just a used Fender. Also very popular to reshape/mod the livin' crap out of them. I know I did. Reshaped, made it a P/J, bad ass bridge, brass nut and parallel/series switch. Still have it and gig it occasionally.

Not every "classic" is in "classic" condition. I could see that as a deliberately over-the-top, why-the-[bleep]-not, last hurrah for something that's probably more rust than metal, a la the 24 hours of Lemons.Is this a case of "had a classic, ruined it, selling for classic price"?
