It wasn't too bad in '88 but by '92 it had declined quite a bit. I think they stopped having bands in 1994. There's a video of the demolition of the old CBQ on youtube. Lots of American servicemen left here with Newfoundland women. At least 3 of my great aunts married Americans and moved to the US, so I can buy that the young fellas might have been a little put off.
