Things You Don't See Anymore Part 3

When I was a kid I used to look through these catalogs for hours on end in the months leading up to Christmas. In the pre-internet years this is all we had. Back in the day these catalogs had EVERYTHING a kid could want! Those of you that remember surely know what im talking about!

That's where my first case of gas was born. I drooled over that very page countless evenings before going to bed. Back then I could recite the descriptions by memory alone. My parents weren't big spenders, and it was rare (if not impossible) that I ever got a "toy" that was over $25. All things on that page were so close, yet so far, and I wanted them so badly I could smell the wood and electronics. I think that has a lot to do with why I buy so many basses today. Simply because I can.
I hear you Joe, my parents bought me a very small amp with my first electric bass guitar and I couldn't get any low end, but I had radio shack. I saved the money from my part time job trying to get people to buy the newspaper and I went to radio shack and bought a 12" woofer mind you at 11 I was clueless about ohms, but I bought the speaker some wire and some alligator clips cut a hole in a board screwed the speaker to the board cut the wires on the speaker in the amp used the other wires to make them longer and connected the alligator clips to the wire and then to the terminals of the speaker I used a foam ice cooler as a cabinet and you would be surprised at how good it sound. In those days we did what we had to, to better our lives ourselves :) I am hunting through the online catalog in hopes of finding my first mixing board which ran off of a bunch of "D" batteries

Absolutely! The Sears catalog (and a few others) were our "internet" in the 1960's. I spent lots of time looking at the stereo (and Quad) systems, mini-bikes, and drum sets.

Of course, the bra section caught my attention too!

Only a sample of one, but I work with a young lady who emigrated here from Ukraine two years ago. She's one of the classiest women I've ever met.

lucky you, go ask her out, you could be looking at the last classy Ukrainian women !!

I pick up my dog poop because I think its stupendously rude to just let it lie in middle of the pedestrian road. I don't care if no one else does it. I don't care if people think I'm a little touched. Women especially look at me like I am some vile creature for doing this. I just smile and pat my dogs for taking a dump.

I will admit, there was one sexy woman that came up to me and gave me a thumbs up and said '' Thanks to you we are one step closer to joining EU!!!! good job sir!!!!'' LOL

Otherwise it is truly disgusting going to the park in the summer, seeing women spit sunflower seed hulls and chewing gum onto the sidewalk as they drink beer and smoke. I don't care how good looking you are, that is just nasty. Fake Vuitton and knock off Chanel, no matter how well they are made, along with a micro skirt isn't enough to make them attractive with such manners. Taking simple acts of kindness for granted doesn't help either. But that's just the way the people are in general over here, men and women, old and young.

Being totally honest, the bad economy must have a lot to do with it. It's brought back spitting into the culture. It's only a matter of time before women start doing this again. Oh well..... at least I have only seen a couple of women jetting out snot rockets..... I guess I've been here way too long.
