As mentioned in another thread, I was infatuated by the Communicator, and would fashion one out of anything that even remotely resembled one. When these kits came out, I was already in high school and too old to actually play with them, but I bought these anyway...uh, for display purposes only.

Enigma - contrary to popular belief - was broken by 2 Polish mathematicians. They fled Poland before the invasion on Sep 1 1939 and took all of their research to Bletchley Park.

What Alan Turing broke was FAR more difficult - the Lorenz Cipher Machine. I consider Turing to be one of the great, unknown geniuses of the 20th century. Without his work, at least an additional 10 million people would have died during WWII.

If you ever get a chance read his paper, "On Computable Numbers" published in 1936. Computing systems are still measured today by that paper - "Is a system Turing complete or not?"

I see it at some stores, but certainly not every one.
I know someone who worked as a butcher at a grocery store

Civil Defense has now become and been renamed FEMA.
I guess we’re no longer concerned with surviving a nuclear apocalypse.

I have a 15 year old pair of blue Adidas Gazelle's that are still in great condition and a newer pair of Adidas Kiel in blue which don't come close to the Gazelle's. Think I'll donate the Kiel's to Variety Village.
