Things You Don't See Anymore Part 3

This one came to mind when I came across my t-shirt in my draw. I use to belong to the Nautilus Fitness Center in Nutley, NJ back in the late 70's early 80's in Bodybuilding this became the buzz word it was all about the Nautilus shaped cams on the Leverage machines that change the way a lot of people worked out.

Oh yeah! I remember Nautilus founder Arthur Jones claiming you only needed ONE set to failure (on each machine in the circuit) to fully work each muscle group, and then your workout was over. I really wanted to believe that nonsense, but like most things, too good to be true. :bored:

Yeah but back than Dick Butkus was using it and swore by and claimed it was Arthur Jones and his machine that aloud him to play more football after his knee was destroyed, so we all got roped if the most fear player on the football field said it worked

it had many Pro bodybuilders jump on the Jones train at the time the drug stacking that was going on behind the curtain made some of the more naive think it was the Nautilus machine was helping them achieve that level of results me included :) oh I remember the phrase the used to explain the concept
full-range,direct,rotary,omni-directional,automatically-variable resistance. which shorten = BS ha ha ha

I remember my brother and I liking the machines, but never buying into the training philosophy. And we certainly didn't stop using free weights, or other machines including the tried-and-true old workhorse...the Universal, like this one:
