It's amazing how similar the Corvair design was to the VW Beetle. Just sayin'.

I had three Corvairs, but all second-gen fully-independent-suspension (two 65 monzas, and a 66 coupe...) - none of those 'unsafe at any speed' first-gen solid-axle ones. BEST car for climbing up snowy hills...

I had a friend who had a mid ‘60s Chevrolet Corvair Monza Coupe. Very nice car. Burgundy exterior.

But these are the lines. I thought it looked Italian. Like a Ghia or Bertone creation. Or maybe Pinin Farina, who with Tom Tjaarda designed the Corvair Coupe Speciale show car in 1962. The lines are very similar. Turns out the designer was Ron Hill, in-house at GM's Advanced Studio 4 in 1962/1963, immediately before he moved to the Art Center College of Design, Pasadena.

Ha! I left a box of 64 Crayolas in my Dad's '64 Ford Galaxie back window on a hot Sunny Day and it made a lasting impression on both of us!
