Wow... there's a flashback! Late-80s, fiscal year-end for our department (a branch of the federal government of Canada) and we still had budget that we needed to burn (If we didn't spend it all, we might get less next year!). So I bought one of those 'portables' for our director... I don't recall the exact price ($2000-ish??) but it was crazy money, for sure the most expensive machine in the department
