Okay crazy I found a very early photo of my band maybe guess 2002, 2003. I actually had brought out my rack mounted touring rig from the late 80's for this show I sold it not long after this photo
so long ago my guitarist still had his Hiwatt amp and it was before the Fender P was modded with the mirror pick guard

Promo swag and buttons(sometimes stickers and T-shirts)for movies, albums, bands, labels, music and audio gear, specialty stores, periodicals, and so on…
Companies just don’t bother with it anymore, when promotions can be done online. Sometimes the slogans were cleaver or provocative, sometimes they were so lame that you’d wonder how someone got paid to come up with it.
There’s no rhyme or reason as to what I have; while I worked in record wholesale and retail for years and got a bunch that way, much of it was given to me or left behind by roommates, or for other stuff I just grabbed anything handed out at NAMM. I used to do record collector shows, sold a lot of buttons of “cool” bands as rarities. But now, it seems like nobody bothers with them, even if rare, quirky, ironic, wiseass, tongue in cheek, sarcastic…
A company called Ephemera used to do a brisk business with general smartass and edgy quips on buttons, magnets, and stickers….

They’re still around, but just barely. Nobody can take a joke anymore or else they get too indignantly shocked or triggered, and have self-righteous issues. Or possibly the whole concept is dated now that you can hide behind your computer, and post memes and GIFs. From beatniks to hippies to punks, you used to see buttons all the time.
My prized promo possession along these lines, is this…
I had a Radiohead promo button that just stated “I’m A Creep”, but I lost it…would love to find another one, wear it to get a reaction, but probably very few, if any, would get it, so in the meantime…
But then…

My desk's built-in bulletin board is basically a display board for a bunch of the ones I have. The rest are in an old Planter's peanuts jar (old, because it's made of actual glass).
No pics right now, but maybe over the weekend.
