Funny you should mention that as the only reason I am able to differentiate the difference between an old Leica, Rolleiflex, what have you is because of my dad.
I seriously think the man owns just about every camera ever made.

8 track tapes.

I actually have a friend in Texas who collects 8 track tapes. He opens them up, cleans them, puts new felt and some kind of little metal strip in them. He also has a cache of blank 8-track tapes and he often makes his own 8-track versions of some of his favorite albums, complete with artwork he does on his computer. They look very authentic.

Believe it or not, there's an 8-track subculture around, with collectors/traders online and such. There are some specific 8-track tapes that fetch pretty high coin on eBay.

My buddy in TX--true story, and I've got a Flip Video he sent me a couple of weeks back of this--just got an older pickup and he installed an 8-track player in it with a booming speaker system.

I had a friend in Tulsa a few years back who found a NOS, sealed in-box 8 track player along with a huge box of tapes at the local Goodwill. He incorporated the player into his big stereo system and regularly jammed 8 track tapes with little or no sense of irony.

Portable record players...

I own one of these. Looks similar, but maybe a little better quality. Mine is tan. I've used it to burn old vinyl and shellac (78 rpm records) to CD with a non-computer stereo component-type CD burner I have. I used to have a big collection of old pre-WW2 78 records as well as a lot of vinyl singles and LPs that never made it to CD release. This porta-player I have is good for transferring that stuff and it's fun to hook up the speakers to it and spin some old vinyl.

One of these days I'm going to get another really serious turntable. I dig vinyl, though I have sold off most of what I used to have.

Tom Corbett Space Cadet books - was downloading some ebooks from Project Gutenberg to my eReader and guess what? 7 out of the 8 Tom Corbett books are on the site, available for free download! A bunch of stuff from other older sf authors, including James Schmidt, EE "Doc" Smith, H Beam Piper, Andre Norton, etc. Even if you don't have an eReader, most PCs and Macs (as well as a lot of smart phones and tablet computers like the iPad) will read ePUB files, so if you're here online, chances are you can download and read some of the Project's free ebooks...
