Metal.

Not the genre, but the material. Everything is made of plastic, particularly kids stuff. Toy guns and cars made of plastic are just so.. tacky.

I guess that leads into the other thing: quality. Nothing is built to last. Its sad to think an appliance that is already 20 years old will probably still out live one bought brand new today.

In the midwestern US-people no longer slow, or stop when someone is trying to back out of their parking spot (or driveway at home).

Basic Courtesy is a dying concept in today's American society...

Did we forget to teach our kids, or are we the ones?

Dodge Ram 50

This truck defied planned obsolescence. I bought it new in 1987 and put nearly 250,000 tough miles on it until I gave it away to a friend in 2006 that did some minor repairs to it before donating it to a needy family. As far as I know, it is still being used today.

Pinball machines
Lava lamps
Leg warmers
Rubik's cube

New pinball machines are being made but I don't see arcades around here anymore except at the bowling alley.

You can buy new lava lamps at Spencer's Gifts
I see girls wearing leg warmers and they still sell them around here in the winter.
You can buy Rubik's Cube too and I saw an electronic Rubik's Cube at a toy store recently.

How about one of these cars?
