This guy is a monster

This thread is absolutely hilarious.

I'm with ya' on that...

I'm waiting for one guy in here to post what he has to offer. What, no takers??? Hmmm, not one of you who throw out the term "wanker" has posted a video of you playing with one of the best drummers on the planet.

It's the wannabe's who have to bash what they can't do. A simple "not a fan of that style", "not my thing" would do. Didn't your mama's teach you any better?

I see what you mean by wanking, but I what I find funny, is that jazzers will label a guitarist like Joe Satriani or Steve Vai, or at least some of their playing, as wanking, but when John McLaughlin or Al Di Meola does the same thing with a clean tone over jazz chords, it's something else all of a sudden. Lol :hmm:

This is true. Typical snobish disdain for rockers. Although this clip was pretty bad.

I was responding to the generalizations/characterizations of "jazz guys".

Oh there is such a thing as "jazz snobs" who refuse to play or even acknowledge any other types of music, and it's even worse when those "jazz snobs" started off as rockers or metal guys who were into Yngwie, MacAlpine, Stch, Vai, etc. I know a few and have played with a few.

Bull!@#$

There are more rock-snobs than jazz snobs.

Bulls%*t to you! I never said that there weren't "rock snobs", I said that there ARE "jazz snobs" after you said that was a "crock of bull", because I have known more than a few of them. Who are you to say that someones experience is Bulls*#t, and why are you taking up for total strangers? Maybe the guys that I know are a**holes? Maybe they are the exception, but i've talked to others who have said the same thing so I guess that there are some close minded people out there. So stop defending them.

I'm only defending against sweeping generalizations. Like if I knew a few white guys who couldn't play funk and decided to post that white guys can't funk out...

I can agree with that. The bottom line is that we all should be open to all styles as musicians, whether it's our favorite or not. The fact that this guy is good enough to be onstage with musicians of that calibre should say enough about him. Greg Howe can play rock, jazz, fusion and we know how versatile Dennis Chambers is. Bottom line, "a great player is a great player" even if you don't particularly care for the music that that player is playing.

Agreed. And there *are* some snobby jazz guys as well as rock and classical guys. I have no room for any of them.
