This is what a "Dead Spot" sounds like

Could a dead spot be created by using different strings? For example if the tension on the neck was changed could this affect the resonance of the neck in away the a dead spot may be more noticable. I have a real nasty on the 5th fret of my E string (A). I do not seem to recall noticing it when I was using rounds.
Tks

I've greatly increased my sustain, and decreased a few dead spots on my G&L L-2500 by adding screws to the bridge (can't string throught the body anymore), and making sure my headstock bolts were fully tightened. Never done much with the headstock. Interesting read, nice mod for the OP though.
