The TI B string is .136 and I don't think it would respond well tuned up to E. Certainly it wouldn't fit in the nut slot. I don't see what all the fuss about with the slinky factor. You just have to play them long enough to get used to it, and play closer to the bridge. FYI, there is a post somewhere about someone who tuned up the A and D to D and G respectively, and then strung the E and A with Labella Jamerson's. He didn't seem to like it that much, they didn't balance out.

tedantle,
I have a 4-94 w Chromes that I like, but have been thinking about changing over to the TIs.
First, I'm guessing you're stringing thru the body, right? Also, do you slap? Is the tension so low that you can't get any bounce out of it (I know others have said that is the case) or do you get nice old school Larry Graham-ish thump?
Thanks in advance.
Lakland's are out of stock on Flats, (and most every other string set they sell). I bought some Sadowsky Flats. Compared them with the TI's. I'm still in love with the TI's.

I've tried Sadowsky's also last year on my custom 5-string.
In my experience:
Sadowsky flats = Lower tension than Chromes, but not near as low tension as TI's.
Sadowsky flats = Thumpier than Chromes and lacking some of the clarity that Chromes and TI's have and retain.
The Sadowsky's seemed to start to mellow into their broken in sound way quicker than the Chromes and TI's.
At least that was my experience from memory.
.
Like I said earlier. TI flats are the UNflatwound flatwound. They make me wanna not put the bass down. I love them.
