Thoughts on TC Electronics.

Well first off welcome to TB.

We (TB collectively) aren't even sure that TC has been bought; if they have been, and the quality goes down, then those currently on the market will only get more sought after. I wouldn't worry about future value, unless you tend to go through gear like water through a strainer.

Thank you!

I´d rather find reliable gear that suits my needs and get familiar with it than run through all the gear on the market.

This is might be good evidence that TC is truly bought by Music Group. Invalid Link Removed

Hi.

This is my first post here, so hello all.
What made me post this was this doubt I have about TC:s future. Recently started to play bass again after over 15 year break and I´ve found that there´s been some changes in bass gear since I last time was looking around. First I bought EBS Reidmar+ EBS 311 proline cab. Then I wanted something to train with at home and bought used BH250 which sounded so good to me that I thought I´d replace Reidmar with Rh450 or BH500, even though I had to send BH250 for service. (It had faulty power supply)
I´d love to have 3 presets for different sounds and that built in tuner is a nice feature too. And of course pricing suits my wallet...
Now I´m getting second thoughts about buying TC products. What will happen to quality, customer/product support, brand itself???
Maybe I´m thinking whole thing too much instead of playing, but on the other hand I don´t want to waste my hard earned money for something that does not hold it´s value.

Any thoughts about brands future? Will TC become another Behringer cheapo or just keep getting bigger and better?

Usually when a company buys someone in a different price bracket it is to expand their own horizons rather than to bring it all down to one standard so let's home they keep their own brand cheap and cheerful and put the funds into tc to make them even more exciting.

The following makes it pretty clear to me.....

The Music Group is one of the world's largest holding companies for pro audio and music products brands. As the corporate parent for world-recognized brands such as Link Removed, Link Removed, Lab.Gruppen, [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], Tannoy, Link Removed, TC Electronic, TC-Helicon,Link Removed,Link Removedand Link Removedthe Music Group owns and manages some of the finest brands in the industry.

I'll just add that there are some who feel that TC Electronic might benefit from this relationship. How? Well, one thing that has been mentioned is enhanced warranty support. The Music Group has a 3 year warranty.....

Thank you for your views about TC and it´s future. No one here knows for sure, but I think Music Groups history with other bought brands might tell something about it´s future regarding TC.

PS. Played through BH250 today and I feel it´s loud enough compared to EBS Reidmar. I´d say as loud as, and yet tonally much easier to blend in and shine out. Used B3K distortion for few songs to add more grind.

Yep.
There's a rehearsal room we have been using for the past few months with a metal project. They have an Ashdown RM 420 with matching Ashdown 8ohm 4x10. Sounds reallly good. Last week I thought I'd try my little BH250 for a spin and used it with the cab. With volume halfway, the TC was as loud/little bit louder than the Ashdown at almost full volume (with gain on the Ashdown at 75%). My bandmates wouldn't let me turn up, and we have a crazy power metal drummer who has no regard for his kit or cymbas, just smashes away. The BH250 sounded clearer and more defined too, much more articulate.
So there, it can keep up with a loud (LOUD) drummer and two distorted guitars, didn't even break a sweat. I didn't think it would compare, but it made me proud!
(Oh, I was using a Squier CV Jazz with duncan Quarterpounders, playing with fingers, I suck at pick playing)

Don't believe the h8ers out there (especially the ones that only look at specs and have never gigged a RH750). The head is LOUD! It can easily keep up with most other 750 watt(ish) heads I've owned and tried. Plus, the feature-set on it truly make it a gigging-bassist's dream. Built in strobe tuner (w LED readout), a nice OD that can go from warm to full-on fuzz and everything in between, one of the best, built-in to a head compressors that I've tried, semi-para EQ (using the shift function and 3 presets (I have mine set for 1 - a nice, more or less flat fingerstyle setting. 2- A contour-slap setting and 3 - a Heavy, rock tone with some nice OD (just shy of fuzz).

I use it with the option TC pedal that give me access to a mute, my 3 presets and also a strobe-tuner display. I no longer have to haul pedals or a tuner. This paired with my LDS cab (2 x 10" Faital + 2 x 6.5" on a slant on top) get me through 9 out of 10 of my gigs (I have a big rack rig with an Epi 6x10 for very large jobs (1200+ people in attendance).

Today I noticed strange thing. TC does not tell sensitivity for their cabs, or did I miss something? I´m about to sell my EBS 311 cab to get myself RS410, which I´ve heard to be good match with RH and BH amps. But what is sensitivity? 104 db for EBS and ???db For TC.

And I know and I don´t want to start discussing about amp wattages at all. ;)

No they don't list it. You'll just have to try it and hope. Why would they post anything that specific, not their wheelhouse.

Gibson.

Now that I think about it, the comparison isn't quite perfect. Fender buys companies and shuts them down. Gibson buys companies and cuts the quality to the point that you wish they'd shut them down.
Fender still has plenty of brands they haven't shut down. They've also sold off some brands. Some brands they bought needed shutting down because they weren't selling enough. I think it's a very undeserved reputation they have. They might have pissed some people off along the way, but I don't think they buy other brands just to shut them down at all.
