Carlo, the two point looks real nice!
I'm no hater of the Hipshot either, I've just never needed to replace a 3 point.

Thanks, Mark. It will be modded, something similar to Scott's Badbird, because the 3 point studs are in the wrong place compared to the two point. May not work but I thought I'd give it a shot.

Would you consider producing a flat trim to fill the center post? It'd sure look great on my old Greco TB II!

A thread in chrome piece :) The tail piece looks great BTW - Please do keep us informed, that would really spice up my Greco.

A chromed plastic plug would be better, I'd like to find a one size fits all solution. US and import TBirds use different threads...or they did at least through the Bicentennials. Is Gibson using metric on current TBirds?

Anyway, I'll definitely let you know how it works out. I'll probably try it on my bolt on Epi first.

I'm already on here but added a new NR to the family in 2012. Originally I'd put in an order for a Pelham Blue one but at the last minute changed it to a burst and I'm glad I did.

Just got a hardcase for my new thunderbird. Damn that thing is LARGE. Funny how a bass so huge and unusually shaped feels so easy and natural to play. They really chanced upon a good idea with the thunderbird.

I sometimes troll my classmates or fellow commuter that I'm carrying a rifle or a keyboard when I lug my thunderbird around.

Very true, while the hipshot is not that expensive, The 3 point doesn't really bothered me, maybe the string height yeah.

Maybe it's because I like, and stayed with, the black hardware, but I find the SuperTone looks quite natural on the Thunderbird.

Same here, but then again it blends right in since my bass is black as well. I installed a chrome one on my RD (Krist N. model) and I think it looks right at home on there as well. No plans to install Supertone's on my Gold Bird or BlackBird tho.

Here's the prototype of what I'm calling the ThunderTone Bridge/Tailpiece. It's certainly improved the sound of this bolt on Epi.

Individually adjustable string heights and spacing. Precise intonation. No string wrap on the saddles.

I just got my first Thunderbird for Christmas, but didn't have much time to play around with it until recently. The setup on it was absolutely horrendous. The bridge was a mile high and the action was so high I could barely play it. Further, it had sort of a hollow sound. Well, I read up on the bridge, figured out how to adjust it and it's like an entirely different bass now. Not only does it play much better, but it sounds much better too. I just can't get over how awful the factory setup was. I've seen poor factory setups before, but this was the worst. Now that I've got it right, I really love it.

Is this something that you are planning to mass-produce or just using it on your builds?

It's basically a wider and taller version of my bridge to replace Three Points...I don't need a bridge this wide, or tall.

It's similar to what Scott does with his Badbird for '60s birds, it solves the intonation/adjustability problems of the three point. A major problem for me is where the rough part of the E string ends up on top of the bridge saddle. This bridge solves that problem without a 'mod bar'.

Steve of ThunderBucker Ranch makes my bridge/tailpiece for me. He also sells them on his site and he'd make these as well. "Mass Production" is a bit of an overstatement. Price would be between Hipshot's Supertone and their bridge/tailpiece combo.
