After more than two nail-bitingly impatient weeks, the blackbird finally arrived. I've wanted one since I was 15, total dream come true. Feels alot heavier than my thunderbird though, and the neck is a wee bit thicker, and that opti grab thing is kinda un-impressive, definitely needs a set up but still sounded awesome after the first play. Tuned it DGCF and rocked out on some Mötley Crüe, 'twas totally awesome. pics will follow later since I'm typing this off my iPod.

Howdy T-Bird.
It will sound silly, but I have never played a Thunderbird. There, I said it.
I need to fix this and give them their due.
I am so ashamed.

:p

Here's a random G.A.S. shot for you bro, hope to see you here soon.

Thanks T-Bird, we talked about the finish on the Jackson last year. I was going to try it on a project, but it got derailed. So, I will take that bass of your hands. do you accept cash?

The edwards is a slick looking bass! I play a ESP 6 string now and am enjoying it. My problem is that I Like change. I'm hoping that I might find a bass that I will actually love!

Responding a few pages late, mild thread awakening(not quite reviving), and a bit off topic. Pretty good for one of my posts!

I too like change which is why Im looking to trade or sell my Edwards now(Hear that Epiphone Pro V owners/bad shape Gibson TBird owners!?) . The neck is bigger than what im used to (ESP and Ibanez) and even though the pickups make it two or three basses in one(sooo many possibilities and sounds!), and it looks great, it may end up in the classifieds one of these days.

The Edwards has better upper fret access compared to the ESP pheonixs'(?) as shown by this rear shot (which almost makes it look alien):

And btw whats neck dive? :D
Great location for the strap buttons if you are looking to get rid of neck dive!

So here's a question for all of you TBirders... How much (if any) do you consider a Fenderbird to be blasphemy? On that same note, what about modding? Non-Tbird pups for example? I don't know if this has been discussed here, and I don't want to start a war by any means, I'm just curious. If it's got a TBird body is that enough to consider it a TBird?

Just my .02.....
There's no blasphemy in a Fenderbird at all, the originals being custom made by Peter Cook for JAE in several shape variations with parts from Gibson, Fender etc. Usually tho, it's considered a Fenderbird not Thunderbird, however it's probably a minor point. The original concept was to combine the body and especially the Gibson pickups with a Fender Maple neck to create a unique bass for JAE, today definition is not quite so rigid with quite a few variants.

And nice custom example owned by an aquaintance on another forum, I like the deep cutaway on the lower 'bout.

And a cheapie, from Epi and MM parts.
