Thunderbird Club

There's a '66 NR for basically the same money on Reverb...........
I regret I have only one Liver to sell!
Maybe they would take two kidneys instead..... Never mind, that's not sustainable longterm either.

I suppose it's inappropriate and beyond the scope of this forum to solicit donations of the requisite body parts for such purposes, justified though they may be. Seems we are resigned to live with the fact that landing one of those old and rare birds is just plain (and painfully) costly.

The fact that my house is easily worth at least 6 times it's original price is what made it possible for me.......Otherwise, nope.

Of particular interest to @bobyoung53 @Chucky Stiletti @WillyW: I was thinking of getting some Pyramid Gold Flats. I bought and received some lightly used Pyramids last night from the classifieds and was able to get them on the '55 Pbass for use today. I have to say its the best that bass has sounded in a long, long time (with a different rig). Minimal EQing, just playing. Seemed to tighten up the lows, which were still approaching massive but not boomy, thickened up the mids and tamed the highs nicely. I need to redo the setup to match these strings and then this is going to be a great sounding bass once again that I enjoy hearing as well as playing. I now have two basses ('64 and '55), with the Pyramids and they sound great for my goals on both.

It was covering the Outlaw Country Cruise..on Norwegian.
My drummer went on one a couple of weeks ago..Styx.Deep Puple..Foghat and others..He said it was unusualy cold and windy for the Caribbean Members of DP got Covid and were
only able to play one show.
It’s way too soon for my wife and I to think about going on a cruise. There is an annual Cruise to the Edge that Yes frequently appears at. Here’s the one for this year. It sounds like it will be pretty good. The Bands | Cruise to the Edge | May 2 - May 7, 2022

I was feeling energetic this afternoon, so I cut a new black guard for me VP, put a chrome foil bird on it, and attached with thin double sided tape instead of screws.

Love it. Love the lack of screws too. Looks awesome!

Edit to add: That dark fretboard looks amazing as well. If I find burst VP with a board that dark I'm buying it. I'll do trapazoid fret markers though so as not to be a total copycat.

There was a time in the early eighties when Glam bands like Slade were turning in their glitter in favor for leather and the music got increasingly heavier.

This clip of the Ian Hunter Band with the legendary Mick Ronson on guitar is a stellar showcase on that change happening. And with an awesome RD artist bass being played on stage too.

Yeah most of the new ones seem to have very light fingerboards.
The markers are just stickers.

Ronson seemed to have that effect.
