Thunderbird Club

It's a little more than that. There's a reason that bass players don't have groupies. We are altruistic and take on the entire responsibility for making sure other humans continue to procreate. Without bass vibrations, humans wouldn't be as likely to mate. By extension, without bass vibrations, the human species would die out over time. It's a heavy burden, but as bass players, we are the only ones capable of shouldering it.

When you put it that way.... We need to stop, too many dumasses out there

How are you liking that YBA100?

Great amp. Loud enough to disturb the neighbours (assuming that is a tonal goal). Grindy and good tube compression; enough compression that I feel no need to use a compressor (or maybe I am not the talentless hack that I think I am; no, still a talentless hack). Probably not a great choice if you are looking for a pure clean sound, but it does clean up using the -6db input. But I have heard others say that they can't get much grit out of it, so that may be due to some aspect in normal variation in the 12AX7 preamp tubes. If I were looking to reduce grind, I would swap a 12AX7 to a 12AU7.

I note that since buying it, they have gone up $200 at L&M. Still a bargain at C$1000 compared to other tube offerings. I can get 2 Traynors for the price of an Ampeg 50T.

I haven't tried dropping it off the roof yet.

Start with a TV.

One day I'll get to try a YBA100.

I know that many years ago, Traynors were available many places in the US, especially border states. I don't think that is still the case. Some time around the 90s, I think Traynor went out of style and the distributor(s) stopped carrying them.
Yeah, I never see them here. I sure would like to try one out.

I’ve had to pare back my GAS list. It is now only a Mesa 115 cab, a Tele, and of course a Thunderbird that may come along I decide I can’t live without. The Taxman hit hard this year so probably nothing new until next year.
I have the Tele I want picked out:

you forgot to mention that the higher gain construction of the X7 makes it more prone to shock damage than the U7 when dropping from roofs...

A friend is learning guitar. She has a similar geometric issue with a guitar's upper bout as that tele player. She uses a longer strap. Or did. She may have decided to wander off in a different direction. She's a little flakey at times.

I loved that tune as a kid. I guess I still do, and she does it justice.
