Thunderbird Club

This Nerd Bird today with Rotos sounded fantastic. For some reason this bass is pretty dark. Even Rotos were punchy but tame. But that's fine with me.

......
I love multiple speakers. In fact, I almost don't like single speakers. I don't care if it's multiple cabs or speakers in a single cab. The sound is just bigger, and much to me better.

Same.
I think it'll be interesting to see what the differences in the sound of these cabs will be; with the same speaker in both, powered by the same head.

I wonder how the larger, newer cab will sound compared to the smaller, older cab?

It’s those spare screws in the body near the pickups. Those are tonation screws (not to be confused with intonation screws). Gibson lost the spec on those screws along with the proper placement way back in the 60’s. If you take them out all your mojo will leak on the floor.

Would be too funny if it sounded larger and newer. :D

I would think the newer one would have a deeper tone. Seems like that was something of a trend for some then. But we'll be awaiting a report.

Too late. My mojo leaked out a while back. I don't really know when, I just know it did.

But right tightens the tone and left looses it then?

Well, as it happens, Sweetwater finally sent the rest of the stuff I ordered, in like....August? I think?

Pending FedEx delivery :nailbiting::nailbiting:

In with that stuff is an audio interface for recording to my PC, and a mic for the cab(s).
So, I should be able to record them individually, and compare them.

Once I figure out how, of course :bag:

beauty..would love to try that bass….something about it’s look screams playability for me…
I wish I was free last week when you were in Indy and I could have brought it up one afternoon/evening. That's only a 2 hr drive. But I was busy and had two meetings.

It's actually the least comfortable bass I own. I've never put a strap button at the base of the neck, so it's a gold medal neck diver--even with a good strap. I might do that one day. Sure would make it balance better and more enjoyable to play. It's not going to hurt the value much, if at all. The neck feels like the '64 Thunderbird, so that feels great.

I have never played and original Embassy, and was kinda looking for one (at a decent price) when they decided to reissue them. Apparently they did change them enough to improve the ergonomics. I don’t think a heel button would help the new one, and would probably hurt.

I haven’t even had mine for a week yet, but I am glad I got her.

The wanderlust green one I have had on back order for over a year is due in April….

It's interesting and they may know more than is being let on - it's certainly interesting and with their new owners wjo's to say? I think the 2021 Non Reverse was a hit for Gibson and maybe that leads to more and better things in the future.
Got my fingers crossed. Is the instagram link from a legit Gibson source or was it just made up by somebody? If it’s legit I’m inclined to write Gibson and congratulate them on coming up with some tastefully done reproductions.

Yes, tight is to the right and loose is to the left, unless your south of the equator. So if you want to play tight with the drummer just tweak those screws to the right, but be careful, too tight and you’ll squeak.

Recording is a breeze, figuring out how to post those recordings on TB is the tricky part.
