Thunderbird Club

Great song. We were putting this one in before the band fell apart. It's not the most fun song to play on bass, but the singer absolutely owned it. Then the lead guitarist moved to Moscow (right before the invasion), the singer had health issues, and the rhythm guitarist's hands fell apart from arthritis and tendonitis. Ah, well. All things must pass.

That song came out at about the peak of the MTV music video craze. They played it to death along with the one below, but I still enjoy listening to and watching them. Kinda wish we had the carefree days of the mid ‘80s back.

What I really miss from the 80s is the sense of fun in the videos. Do bands even make videos anymore, now that MTV is no longer a music station?

Actually, the Tbird ‘60s and NR Orginal Collections look pretty sweet! Colors, pups and hardware are pretty much what I’ve been waiting for. Wonder what the cost will be and when they might release them.
That page is owned by “two Gibson nerds”. I don’t see evidence of an official connection.

I hate moving this thing in my apartment:

In high school, a friend and I wanted to build a speaker cab with a couple hundred ~2” speakers from transistor radios, but we were too lazy and cheap to do it. That was for guitar. I figure you’d want at least double that for bass and it would still suck.

I remember seeing plans for making a cab with something like 20 or 30 4" speakers in a magazine.

The Bose 66601?

No, those only had 9, this was way before Bose, sometime during the mid 60's when I was a kid, probably either in Electronics or Mechanical Illustrated magazine. The article said combined they would go down to 20 Hz which I believe is pretty much impossible especially with the speakers available at that time.
