The only one that I own and have an issue with is the inexpensive thick bodied Sterling SUB. Nice base for the price, but really needs to be thinner or at least hav a belly cut.You’re right, I recalled incorrectly. Like I said,in really don’t pay any attention to the belly cut on any bass I own. Never felt it made any difference with how the bass hangs on me.
So are you sporting the latest trend in reverse intonation on that VP?
That's kind of like a whole body cut! But I love it and is what I would want. My Regenerate (super 55 Pbass) has a really deep cut and I really like it that way. Cuts down a little on some weight as well.
Everybody wants to be cool and use alternate tunings, I just went a different rout. It's my own special concoction. It's tuned to E flat sharp with hints of a diminished 7th.So are you sporting the latest trend in reverse intonation on that VP?
You know, there is such a thing as overkill. This isn't it, but I've heard talk of such a thing. Maybe in reference to bassoons.
Just checked my BaCH out and it does in fact have a belly cut (don’t know if it’s original though) and it’s difficult to tell for certain with the solid color finish but it looks like a three plank body. I don’t know much about the BaCH birds (years made, numbers made, features of different runs, materials of construction, original cost…). However, I do know I really like it, even with the stock pup (still looking for a good deal on a nice replacement pup though).

You’re right about how cool the red looks in ambient light. Beautiful.
I agree completely, to the point that I go out of my way to make sure no two basses I own are exactly alike. If you look close you’ll see lots of different bridges, types of pickups, number of pickups, location of pickups, and different string types. So each one definitely has its own flavor and is pretty much dedicated to specific genres of music. I can see myself with probably one or two more birds eventually but probably no more unless it replaces an existing bird.
