Has anyone purchased a pickguard from Pickguardian for their bird? Will he hot stamp the bird logo on it? I need to have a new guard made for my BaCH, and was planning on sending him a template, but wanna make sure he does the bird first.

Yes. The PG on my 67 is from Pickguardian. No, he isn't allowed to put the bird(or any logo/name)on it. Copyright infringement.(Gold Bird is/was a decal from @Larry V; since replaced with a black one from @Engle)

I remember reading the specs on the pickups when these were just talk. But I can't find anything now. Anyone have anything on them? Gibson has that very helpful and descriptive "lead" and "rhythm" nonsense.

I don’t think @Engle does hot stamp, but he does excellent appliqué work. He made a perfect truss cover with word mark for my Greco.

Here’s a review from a familiar guy. He thinks they’re Alnico pickups. I don’t recall if he was able to confirm that. Early press releases said they were ceramic. They sound a lot different than the modern Thunderbird pickups. I really like them.

They are Alnico I had this confirmed directly by Jim Decola at Gibson.

No, but I tried. Something about us not having an ocean or beach maybe. The Ohio River is so big there are beaches in places, but I guess it's not the same.

Thanks. That does make me feel better. While Ceramic can sound good--Alnico does tend to sound better.

Weird day, I watched the first bar I could legally drink in, the first bar I snuck into to play cover sets when I was 16, burn to the ground. The oldest block of buildings in the town totally went up in smoke. At first I didn’t think I’d be that upset, but the more I thought about it, the more important I realized it was when i started playing. It was there last night and gone my 11am this morning.

That's crazy. It's odd how landmarks like that shape us. We don't think about it until something forces us to think about it.

Here's the pickups, much too thin to be the Ceramic ones used before - and the are labeled Lead and Rhythm as they could well and deliberately have different output. Lulls were done that way.

alright.... ebay has the set of two pickups for $89, but I only need one...

Greco is the top of the list.

Black plastic is the bottom of the list.. exposed poles would be groovy...

Here's the pickups, much too thin to be the Ceramic ones used before - and the are labeled Lead and Rhythm as they could well and deliberately have different output. Lulls were done that way.

They are definitely alnico humbuckers. I know that I'm in the minority but I always put the higher value pickup in the neck position not the bridge.

I finally screwed those into the Epi VP this morning - Now all I have to do is wire it. Did you keep the Epi pots? I did go ahead and get some 500K Gibson with the thought of rewiring the whole thing - Not that I'm that great with the soldering iron.
