Web site just calls them "Rhythm T-Bird Plus" and "Lead T-Bird Plus". Good old Gibson bass marketing.
I snickered more than a little about that... sounds like the pickups from my epimoophoam.....

They say that for all the Thunderbirds now.Web site calls them "Rhythm T-Bird" and "Lead T-Bird". Good old Gibson marketing terminology...
I sold a lot of Marantz gear at one point. The smaller wattage models were always quieter than I expected for the rated watts, but they all sounded good. And the big honkers would blow the windows out.I have an old Marantz, 2385, the thing blows the doors open. Not mine but in the same shape, 240 WRMS/channel continous into 4 ohms. I use two pairs of large Advents with it, Grand Funk IS in the house when I play them.

Hey @bobyoung53 and @Chucky Stiletti, you think that fat Marantz would power these?

I just don't know why Gibson just can't come out and give exact specifics of their basses.
I'll never stay abreast of their marketing tactics.

Not sure they have tactics. Just lost platoon members wandering around looking for each other.
and this guy’s not around any more…..Ha! I can see it, lets's crank out those Les Pauls, the bass lovers get to wallow and suffer.
Not trying to diss Gibson by any means. but hey, I'm just a cog in the wheel of bass players.
I've always wanted a Voice of the Theater rig (amps and speakers), but they've always cost more than I was able or willing to pay.I sold a lot of Marantz gear at one point. Yes you did.was poking around Reverb.com and they have a couple '77 T-birds. Holy cow! if that's the kind of $ they are going for, I made a pretty good investment back in'79.
Absolutely! Welcome! Nice fretboard. I have a ‘17 Ebony. Very nice Thunderbird.Does an Epiphone Thunderbird count ?

If they were straightforward in their descriptions and specs., they may attract more attention from bass players. More attention from bass players means more demand and therefore higher prices!I just don't know why Gibson just can't come out and give exact specifics of their basses.
