There's something in that headstock that reminds me of Goya:

There has to be something seriously wrong with the bass for the seller to strip all the hardware and electronics off of it and try to part it out vs just fixing it under warranty. I’m guessing a factory screw up serious enough that Gibson decided to get rid of it vs listing as a demo or factory second.Yes, he just learnt when he saw the post
Husk? Of a new release? That’s just odd. Isn’t it?

Hey a pair with trim rings for $90 is hard to beat. I used them as place holders in my BlingBird build. They sound good just not as good as VP pups or some other after market options that cost 5 times as much.
Got to use the NR with Roto 66 Nickels at practice. Sounded much better than other strings thus far by a lot. Throughly enjoyed hearing some massive Thunderbird tone tonight. Much more of what I was looking for all the way around. I might swap out some SS 66s from a VP to see how that goes. But if no other string works well, the Roto 66 NPSs sound great at home and at church. Sounded great with both PUs or just the bridge.

Thanks. My usual HD pic.nice shot!

No I haven't. My Power Steels are on a Jazz and I'm not taking those off! Additionally, I have box of various strings to try that I'm working through. However, I do think some version of SIT strings would be a great option. I would actually like to order a couple different sets from them to try. But for now, I was just working through what I had on hand first in case there was a perfect match.Have you tried SITs with that one?
Jeez! Give him time. He's only had it about a week(+/-).
Someone likely chimed in, but...Do you mean 77? There was a Blizzard that went through Chicago to Buffalo. There were games and books and stuff. I was young. I remember the powerlines falling behind my house and them jumping around like crazy. My mother was totally freaked out.
We get our share of fun in Buffalo. October storm in 06. Leaves still on the trees and we got a wet heavy snow. Took down powerlines and trees everywhere. Neighbors roof collapsed. Our tree went down and took off half our siding. It was crazy. You could stand outside and hear all the trees cracking and splitting in half. Crazy night. Didn't have power for at least a week. Living at the end of Lake Erie has its challenges.
If so, my mint '06 with custom PG and TRC with Hipshot bridge is available for less!
Hmph! Yer "roadie" shoulda put them on stands.Thunderbird Thursday! My three Vintage Pro Thunderbirds all together! View attachment 4665637
We had one weather guy (of four at the time) who said it was going to be bad. Everyone else was saying several inches, but he said "it's going to be bad." He was right.Nope, it was 1978, you guys probably get one like we had in 1978 every year, I know Buffalo's rep.
There's a pretty good story about it below at that link, 100 people died in Mass, it was the worst storm in 200 years. The whole state pretty much stopped for about a week.

What changed around 2000? I know I read someplace about better wood before mid 2000s or something like that.IMHO - anything under $2000 for a pre 2000 Gibby in excellent condition is a good price. Post 2000 Gibby $1500ish unless it’s a special run (gold anniversary, 2015…) in which case add another one or two thousand bucks. Post 2000 Gibby NR $1500 to $2000 new or used. Bicentennial $3000 to $4000. 1960’s model $5000 to $10,000 depending on condition. YMMV
