Thunderbird Club

There's an Italian restaurant in Kentucky, right on the river across the bridge from Cincinnati (can't recall the name) where RainMan was filmed (the toothpick scene) - anyway.., they had these every booth juke-boxes. I loved it. We'd always punch in Tony Bennet and Dean Martin singing classic Italian pop songs. Going to dinner there we ended up getting the surliest waitress there more times than not... it became a thing dealing with her. :)
fun!

Now that I think about it, isn't this what Geddy used when he was playing the Steinberger?

I think it was when he was playing the Wal? From 1985 to 1992 roughly, 'though he still used the Steinberger for the "Power Windows" tour as the bass the album was recorded with belonged to the producer Peter Collins.
I'm not the biggest fan of Geddy's Wal tone but it did suit the bands style at that time which was like a mixture of The Fixx and Nik Kershaw's "The Riddle" (another Peter Collins produced album). At least for the '85 - '89 time frame.

I don't know what settings Dagan was using on that Blackstar, but that 'bird sounded really good

imo ;)

Yeah, I thought so too. Sounded great to me.

I found it interesting on the 2nd review by the troglodyte that there is no rout under the pickguard and that there was a 3rd hole for a 3 point bridge. I’d actually love someone to compare this bass to the T’bird studio.
If the Studio has no rout under the pickguard i’d start to get suspicious they were using G2 to sell some left over Studio bodies. I guess that’d never happen. :)

On the 2013 vs 2015 clip, I really liked the 13, but I really really liked the 15. Oops. Danger lies this way.

Just me, but I wouldn't put any Cobalt Flats on it.

You mentioned liking 66s on something, I believe. These might be a great option for you. Bob has 66s on his NR and I'll be using them Sunday on mine. The NRs don't seem to be bright like VPs, so even Rotos should work and not be too bright. (I actually don't think 66s are crazy bright. If they were I wouldn't use them.)

What is the difference between Funkmaster 66 and the classic ones, the Swing Bass 66?

Waddaya mean? It is Gibson. I love their basses. Their management? :meh:

I'm mildly curious if it has the regular TB+ pickups, or the same ones as the new NRs, just with black covers instead of chrome.....

I have a Studio, Geoff it's not like that new bass at all in terms on the body, it's slightly smaller but thicker and very rounded off. Tone wise it's probably quite similar though - Set neck and TB Plus is a good combination, my Studio has nice punchy tone, quite different from a neck thru.

Ok, thanks. That is the interesting though in itself - 2 very similar instruments.

I found it odd that there is a 3rd pre drilled hole for the bridge.
That’s for everyone rushing to retrofit 3 point bridges….
