My brother’s 67 Charger had that motor with the 4 Bbl..automatic though. It was still really fast. Too bad he totaled it when he was in college.

Those things weighed a ton too IIRC, nope only 3480 lbs, I thought they weighed bout a thousand lbs more, don't know where I got that misinformation, they're lighter than my G8 which weighs almost two tons.

Yes, so many conflicting realities - to begin with, it is rare, and being a '64 or '65 it would fetch a hefty price, but not quite that hefty. And then he thinks it's a Bicentennial, which would be worth less to anyone who knows anything. But hey - he'll deliver it in person. ???

...and at that price, tell me the actual year, give me a serial number and who's famous bass player hands it's been through.

Gibson is famous for special orders and customs being made back in the day... this could be that and that's where a serial number can be helpful.

First off - a good band name. It reminded me of a funny story. My friend Dean, who loves sushi was on a road trip and stopped to eat at a roadside diner in Wyoming for lunch. He saw that sushi was on the menu and asked the waitress if that was true. She smiled and said, "...it's ok, we cook it first" !

I've noticed a lot of people talking about SIT strings here, am I missing something with my Rotos?

I have limited roto experience, but they were ok in my book AND geetar centre stocks them so that's a plus.

My most beloved roundwounds are EB extra slinky nickle.

I bought SIT nickle in the same gauge and they were virtually identacle AND cost me $1 less than the EB's.

I have no desire to try the flats, as I have picked my pony and will not stray from Pyramid Golds.

I still have a stock of my nickle EB's so I don't need any strings for the foreseeable future, but if the price holds steady SIT nickle will be my re-stock.

PV544, right? Those were called "Pönttö-Volvo" in here.
P1800 is a great looking car also. It's usually called "Pyhimys-Volvo" in here because of the Roger Moore TV series. I can't recall what the original name of the series was but in Finland it was "Pyhimys" (which means "a saint").

I take SIT over Rotosound just for the price factor; sometimes i can find it very cheap in my country.
Being similar prices, I choose Roto.

Semiflat SIT: Enjoyed them, less zings and clanks; gentler to touch of fingers.

Rounds SIT x Rotosound: SIT, cheaper; Roto keeps tone brightness longer (a couple of months); memories tell me it was SIT PowerWound or PowerBright (something like that) x Rotosound SM66.

Always nickel strings.

PS: yep... Power Wound, right name for SIT, put them on a 7ender (real 7... built for fun, in Ocean Turquoise paint).

Correct. I loved mine but couldn't fit all my gear in it. Next vehicle was a 69 Ford Econoline Van.

I fell in love with the P1800 the first time I saw one-long before I saw "The Saint"-the series' name. Moore's character was Simon Templar, initials S.T.=Saint. Still a great looking car. If the lotto gods ever smile down on me, I'll get one.

I've never heard of a gen1 T-bird being made by Gibson in the '70s. Especially with the advent of the internet - you'd have seen it already if such a bass existed.

If it existed, I would expect something more like this - at least in terms of documentation/verification of authenticity.

I think the seller is spot on about it being very rare. I mean, how many high value 1960’s Tbirds are advertised as lesser value 1970’s birds with a buy it now price somewhere north of $18,000. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one that fit that description before. He might have the only one in existence. And how could one pass up the opportunity to avoid FedEx and instead have it hand delivered anywhere in the world at no extra cost, that alone is worth a few thousand bucks. All in all, looks like a steal for somebody.
