That black bass has one of those newer continuous thumb rest things that looks like a string.
I just got home from a gig and I'm tired, when I read your post I went back and looked at it and thought I don't see any thumb rest on that bass.

I just got home from a gig and I'm tired, when I read your post I went back and looked at it and thought I don't see any thumb rest on that bass.
That’s pretty much a match to the VP locations, which I understand to be pretty much a match to the vintage 1960’s Tbird pup locations.Since I have mine out hanging on the wall atm, I went & checked.....it's 10 15/16" and 14 3/4"

FWIW - I’m not so sure matching the original locations is all that important considering the modern Gibson (and CP) pups aren’t anything like the originals in any way shape or form. But I guess it could come in handy if one decided to replace the stock pups with vintage copies like the Thunderbuckers or Lulls.

Delighted to finally rehome my '76.. custom fit by 'Caseman' in Melbourne Australia.. The origional case was on last legs.. This bass was hand delivered to me in '02.. from the Hawkwind stables ... hope thats enough cred. to wiggle into this club

I've had it for a bit, it's an '89 Ibanez sr885le, that I recently put EMG Rip Tide pickups & BTS into.
It's the one i got that Schaller 3D-5 bridge for, a while back......
Hard to tell from most pics, but it's about as banged up as the Classic Pro is.

Gibby Thunderbird, Epi Goth Thunderbird, 68 Japanese “Challenge”, & a Chinese Fieder P style, Maton S60 6 stringer. A couple of Eminar (Aussie) Amps
Measured from the actual fret, and if using a construction type tape measure being sure to hook it on to the 12th fret and pull it down to the centerline of each pickup. Considering all the variables (multiple people offering measurements, centerline of pickup not clearly marked, etc) I’d give these measurements a + or - accuracy of about 1/16”. It’s just a reference dimension, not something I’d route a body or pickguard to without double or triple checking first.

I had a gibson blackbird for a bit.. what a horrid thing.. looked the schizzel but sounded putrid.. this year saw the new arrival in the fold.. 4003sBT.. hipshot in and Set up.. great contrast to the '76.. Ampegs.. on advice from Joe Caladno Monster Magnet bassist.. nice fella...sweet!

Thanks mate. It's an odd duck. Stamped with a '76 serial number (and "second"), and is white. There were no white Thunderbirds from 1976. I do like it. Heavy as a boat anchor but it sounds really good with Rotos or Fender flats. Currently the former is on it. Could use a fret job.
