Got it. Neat area, used to go thru it a lot on my way up to Concord from San Jose. Your pic reminded me a lot of the Morgan Hill and Gilroy area, my old stomping ground.

The suggestion from the luthier group was to put blue tape reversed onto the sticky side of another piece of blue tape and wax the reversed piece. Could use wax paper as a backing as well. Tape it down and let it cure naturally.

My one concern is that even wiping the cracked area with naptha, that dark edge stain didn't budge. No idea where that ring around the crack came from or if it is possible to eliminate...Thanks.

With a separation like that, you'll never make it disappear w/o refinishing the whole body. The dark perimeter/edge is just part of that separation and it won't go away. I'd focus on getting it flat/stable and that's about all you can do as attempting to match the paint is unlikely. Now if it was black...

Mediterranean rolling grassland hills. Pretty common view anywhere in the central area of California. Also, same view as where my family is from in Spain. I guess they said looks right, let's stay here.

Looks like a II with an added bridge pickup. The bridge pickup is too close to the bridge and the the pots are evenly lined.

I had asked this before, but maybe the photo will help. Trying to determine what strings would have come with a 2014 CP. I typically only use La Bella tapewounds as I like the feel. Not good enough to make my decisions on sound.

However, I like what is on the CP and would love to know what they are in case I want to replace them in the future. They are very smooth and do sound good. From the picture I am assuming something like nickel flats? They are shinier than the photo but definitely NOT chrome.

Thoughts?

They might actually be Cobalt flats.
I'm just guessing of course.
But the purple silks lead me to believe that's what they might be.

So, cobalt flats, 45-105 size, purple silk. That might narrow it down a bit.

I think will downgrade the next set of strings from .050 to .045, but sure gonna keep steel strings.
I've never played with steel strings, it would be my first attempt.

I mean, already use GHS and La Bella flat steel strings, but they're so polished, and look like they have a cape over them, the touch of the fingers is nice; but they are flats, not rounds.

RS66s are a little rough on the fingers if you’re not used to them.

Same experience here.
IME - EBCF are probably at the furthest end of the flat scale towards a round wound.
That begs the question - what is the round wound string that sounds closest to EBCFs? Would that be Boomers?
That also begs the question - which flats sound furthest from a round? Would that be La Bella DTFs?
And where do La Bella Black tapes fall on that scale from bright rounds to dull flats?

ps - not a fan of Chrome flats at all.

GHS Pressurewounds reminded me of the EBCFs a fair amount. I don't recall Boomers approximating them like the PWs.

Flats that sound furthest from a round: Pyramid Gold in my experience, a little more so than LaBella Low Tension flats (which seem less bright that regular DTFs due to round cores). The Low Tensions are great, by the way.

so often thought that, so true, CA looks looks so much like southern Spain….they prolly went “leave the cold wet northeast for the English”…..
when living in WA, I learned the spaniards scouting the area (Puget Sound, San Juan island) called it “Nueva Galicia”….
