That's a Mouradian bass, the luthier Jim Mouradian who made those died 4 or 5 years ago, he used to work on my basses, he was also a very good bassist, he played for Ronnie Earl and The Broadcasters.

hmmm, it’s not, he used a quarter (whole set) when I saw them live in 83/4(?) my hs buddy used to work security at the Hollywood Sportatorium and we could get up very close to the stage…

He used Hercos a lot too, I'm not crazy about those.

He also used a Fender Dual Showman during The Yes Album era and Sunn Coliseum guitar amp and what else...
What we (or at least I) need is a comprehensive site of Squire's gear. Like the Entwistle site on thewhonet. The basses he used for different songs in the seventies are pretty much covered in my head but the lack of amp-info is connected to my lack of sleep.

He was a giant. Count me in as a big fan.

There are a few videos on YouTube of him with CBS era Dual Showmans with the big tall heads.

I know Brian May uses a British coin, I think it's a sixpence coin, that's well documented, you can even hear it momentarily create very high notes on the attack when he plays lead.

I had a Sea Green Rickenbacker Color of the Year 4003, I sold it to Paul Boyer who wrote the Rickenbacker bass book and it was the centerfold at least in the first edition. I could have bought it back but couldn't afford it when he sold it.

• A General is just a Major who made it through a war.
• You get one complaint and four questions a year. Use them wisely.
• Slow down. The board of directors aren't as smart as they think they are and you can't make them feel stupid.

Rics are hands-down visually/iconically cool. They can sound good also. I had one of the rare later '80s reversed tr/two piece pg, 2 extra screws in the bridge-plate versions called the 4004 and liked it ok but sold it for a profit. Like anything (cough - Thunderbirds) they have their cult base ... but a bass is a bass is a bass as long as you get-on with it.
