I saw them (JB and SRV) on that tour. Incredible. Just incredible. SRV was clean and sober and on his game. Too bad it was the farewell tour.

yes - doubling a double bass over an electric... I once coordinated an improv performance called: "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" with six musicians all playing bass-centric instruments.

Jeff Beck does not wear in ear monitors. The stage is loud so that he can hear what is going on. I wonder if he is a bit hard of hearng.

Jeff Beck, Neil Young and Nels Cline are my favorite electric guitar players - hands down. (...needless to say I like Jimi also...)

I have read that he is a little hard of hearing.

Love that Tele! It would be in regular rotation with my birds if it were here.:thumbsup:
As it is, this is my most played Fender.

Modern Player Tele with some very warm humbuckers in it. if I could find another one at a reasonable cost I’d probably convert it to a TeleBird, really hooked on the bird ergos vs Fender.

Jeff Beck can play with anybody he wants. It says a lot about how good those ladies are that he is playing with them. Especially Tal. If I was Jeff Beck and could pick any bass player to play that kind of music with, she would be the one.

I have some regrets like that. But the one guy I didn't miss was Muddy Waters. He could burn the paint off an unpainted ceiling.

That can be done on one bass. It doesn't sound quite the same, but it can be done. The story I heard about that track was that Herbie Flowers was getting paid per track, so he figured out how to get paid double on that one.

sweeeet…I briefly owned a black one. (traded a ‘66 P for it…..:rollno:) but mine only had the neck mudbucker….

You couldn't get that upright tone out an electric bass though, some basses come close but nothing really sounds like them. He said both tracks took him twenty minutes for both, I thought it was a great idea.

On stage he has a couple of 100W (tube because tube watts) amps through 2x12s, Rhonda uses an 810, and the side-fill subs are working overtime. It is a loud stage. When I saw him (just a bit past row 10) I couldn't hear the PA, only the stage. And I am very glad I wore some hearing protection.
