God, it's refreshing to hear a singer that doesn't think he has to "growl" his way thru a blues song.

OK, this is from that same jam gig I posted a song from yesterday. I'm not really a blues bassist (as anyone who is a real blues artist will tell you ). I used to do fill ins for the house bassist who traveled a lot for his job. I really like this drummer, hard hitter which shows my rock roots. I think I overplayed just a tad bit here. You need a lot of restraint to be a good blues player and I don't have it sometimes. It's like walking a tightrope, you can't be boring and you need to push but you can't be obtrusive either, which I have been known to be.

This is with the same equipment obviously, TF Fender fretless, SVT head and Ampeg 410 cab

Methanol is tough on paint. Not sure about other finishes. When I was racing using alcohol injection, I had to be careful filling the tank.

And ethanol is tough on the innards of anything it's inside of. Eats up the metal tanks it's stored in. But a great idea for cars.....

I'm pretty much coming to a conclusion that a Tele -type bass is my favourite Fender -style bass. Either stock or modified (usually the latter).

Mine too, but prefer the later 50s Pbass body with contoured edges.

denatured alcohol is alcohol exempt from excise taxes because a chemical has been added that will make you throw up if you drink it.

I'd love to see you guys play. And there are bands that sound like [adjectives of choice inserted here] who make a healthy living sounding like a poor high school basement band--with about the same amount of song writing skill. Great music of the 60s through early 80s ruined me.

Hadn't seen that one. I'm sure there's a bad version of that song, but everybody seems to kill it.

Vaughn and Beck seem to have played it together a few times over the years. Sound quality is awful here, but I suspect it was amazing live.

I could have seen/heard that show (in Dayton OH) when I lived in Cincinnati, but it was on a work-day Wednesday and I passed. SRV passed shortly thereafter...
