I think I belong here. Been following the club thread for a while. Finally decided to join in and share my tbird collection.

I just pulled the trigger on the VP. I know me and I would always be wondering how the VP would have felt and sounded. Should be here on Thursday!

I feel your pain.

Moved to Louisiana in the summer of 80. 100 days in a row with temps over 100 and humidity 80%+. I had to do some engineering work in the drier section of a paper mill. The kind of work where they tie a rope to you and say you have 15 minutes and then they drag you out. 120 degrees and 100% humidity.

Finished my shift and walked towards the door that led out onto the asphalt parking lot...ah, felt like an ocean breeze. Then I remembered the air temp in the parking lot was way over 100. Humidity and temperature appear to be relative for at least that nano second before your brain goes WT*?

On days like we're having this week I do not miss working construction one bit. Never really thought much about it then, but now is not then. Did some storage tank work one summer (million+ gal gas storage). It was empty for repair but we had a fire watch and had to check in and out and had to leave every so often. At times it was cooler in that big tank and other times like an oven.

Hey all I was just getting ready to pull the pin an buy a new Epi Vintage Pro when a buddy sent me a CL listing for a 2013 IV Sunburst in mint condition. I know the Vintage is a better instrument but I can get this IV for 300 and it really is mint. Is the Vintage worth the extra 500? I was ready to spend it but now I'm wondering.

Yes. If you want more of that magic vintage sound, go with the Vintage Pro. If you don't want a Thunderbird that is pretty close to the original at a fraction of the cost for an original, then go with the IV. I have a '64 and the next best sounding Thunderbirds I have are the Epi VPs. Just depends on what you want really.

I've got a CP, and it's a fine instrument. I think the thing is that they're different. They're both very well made Epiphones... But I'd go with what Mike said- get it and flip it off you want the VP.
I'd just keep the CP...

Good move. You won't regret it. Different strings make a real difference, so do yourself a favor and try a few different sets. Boomers, Rotos and Cobalt Flats all sound great on them.

I got the black one. Wanted a white one but they don't make them anymore and those who have them up want a big premium for them. Plus I already have a white Hagstrom Swede Bass in white so now I've got the whole black and white thing going on.

I have the Ebony one as well, absolutely love it!

Not quite as cheap but if you are in SoCal this thing is super clean

Speaking of temps and humidity. This is what 95% humidity looks like in the morning here. It's not hazy because I took the same photography class at Mike and Bob. Almost looks like fog when it's that bad. Fortunately it's not that bad all the time.
