Wow! Even the spalted bass looks pretty good, and I normally don't care for those.
If you like woods, which I do, Spector has some great finishes. The one you called “spalted” is actually Poplar Burl. It’s from their Euro Lux series. The darker one is 5A Flamed Walnut cap on a walnut body and one of only 12 made. I haven’t bought any Spector basses since Stewart Spector left the company so I can’t vouch for quality now but previously it was top notch.

I bet she was great to see and hear live.
If it wasn't for her, this guy wouldn't know how to keep time :p

Who knew girls can make for a "fairly decent" rhythm section. Anyone here any good?

Through the course of my band's history we've had a female drummer and I have to say she was tops, a total punk, she brought a lot of that attitude to everything we did and really proved to be a spark to us in our early years. Here's she's just driving the rest of us perfectly and giving me plenty of "space" to do my job correctly. She ended up moving to LA to be back near family, happily we're still good friends via FB.

Most ladies I've seen play drums bring the heat. I don't know if it just looks that way or not, but without question they can definitely bring it. Can't go wrong with "Can't Find...." In fact, I'd rather hear and play it than Purple Haze.
The guitarist and I are in a Dad Jam/Jazz Band. Can’t Find My Way Home is one of the tunes in our rotation.

I much prefer a transparent finish to painted. Not that paint doesn't look great, but there's something about seeing the grain that adds to a bass or guitar.

Great job! Tight and everyone's instrument sounded great together. (Not always the case.) Your playing was great as always, and that funny looking PBass was simply fantastic sounding and should make many bassists cry that they don't sound that good. No smoke blowing. Even listened to it twice. What were you playing through? GK rig?

I like colored transparent finishes.....sometimes (like the "trans black" on my sr1200), if the wood pattern underneath is attractive.

Some basses I've seen with transparent/clear/natural finishes really should've been painted - they look like they were made with lumber from a building supply store :meh:

'77 Bird, .73 Tortex pick, GK1001RBII and 2 4x10 GK cabs.

I have to say my wife is the best! Early Bday present. I picked up another 2021 Nonreverse Thunderbird, this one in sparkling burgundy, man I love the color. Plays and sounds great, full setup and new Rotosounds later today. Here's a first look. Believe it or not I am not going to mod it.

You're going to have to make an addition to house just for the basses!

Yes, I should have clarified. Most natural finishes don't create any tingles for me.
Black does look great.

Congrats!

I get plenty of complements on mine. Stunning in person.
