So, some Thunderbird pics!

Quite possibly my favorite Tbird pic of the year.

Sorry, couldn’t resist:

Exactly what I was thinking. A snip snip here, a snip snip there and before you know it - she’s deactivated.

Awesome! So you took the Spector plunge, good move! Post a pic of the control cavity and we can probably tell you what it has in it. If it doesn’t already have a Haz or Haz clone, consider that for your first upgrade.

Oh, and sending some Spector love your way…

I played with a female drummer last week at a jam and was pretty solid. She hit that snare harder than I’ve ever heard. My ears are still ringing!
She didn’t know Purple Haze, but she nailed Can’t Find My Way Home.

The end of the fingerboard shows it’s beautiful grain the way it’s shaped. Nice detail!

I do as well. Even the poly finishes on the VPs seem more slick and don't hang onto grime. Maybe it's because it's new and will wear. I need rings and chains as if in Judas Priest and maybe that will help!
The neck on my Les Paul DC is a little sticky feeling. I should strip it and put tung oil on it, but it’s new…

thanks Andy! sounds pretty badazz…would you be able to recognize if I send a pic? there’s no separate batt compartment and the controls seem to be Volume, Blend, Treble and Bass. all with the exception of the volume have a center detent…

Post a pic and we can try to identify it. If not, we know where you could ask. The Spector Club is as rabid/dedicated as us Bird lovers.

I don't go after the angry piano tone, or anything else "iconic" about my 67 NR. I like the way it feels and the abundance of tones I can get with simple adjustments of the tone knob once I've set my amp's EQ to the room I'm in. And all that with flats and without using the 'superfluous' pup.
I'd like to get a 2021 NR so I could semi-retire the 67. Maybe 'one o' these days'. For now, due to having a chronic case of the Italian condition*, I'll just hafta muddle through playing this old thing:

This would look good hanging on me(I prolly wouldn't look any better, though)

EDIT: It would need a new custom pickguard. Maybe this:

NOT!

The horror! Can’t unsee that.

They are a large national chain, but I think that is where the similarity ends. They call me by my name and we will chat about all kinds of music things from instruments to bands... And we all enjoy a good joke like how long until Petrucci starts wearing an OPP hat? (Kim Mitchell used to wear an OPP hat to cover his skullet) or making fun of Billy Sheehan
You are all Canadians. Nice is part of your culture.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it this time around. I’ll be in Bodega Bay this weekend to spread ashes, and then back up to Salinas for the Rodeo in late July. Couldn’t squeeze a third trip up there between them. Haven’t heard any requests for basses from my collection, so I’m assuming you and I (or @Chucky Stiletti) don’t need to connect for any hand offs.

I’m looking forward to plenty of pics posted and lots of great stories though!
I would connect, but it won’t work before the get together. I’ve been really busy with work and clearing brush.

Wow! Even the spalted bass looks pretty good, and I normally don't care for those.

I’ve bought a lot of gear from Rumbleseat over the years, was bummed to see their Carmel store close. It’s where I got my 2013 Anniversary Tbird, supposedly some celeb back story to it but I haven’t taken the time to do any confirmation work on it. It’s a great player and a real looker.

Tom’s video reminds me that some day I’m gonna need to invest in some serious distortion and other pedals to explore that whole side of the Tbird sound. Up to date, I’m running clean and lovin the sound.
Consider one of these. I think it’ll be my next gear purchase. Anecdotally, there is an ACC sound in it with the right settings. 4 ON THE FLOOR CLASSIC BASS OVERDRIVE PEDAL - Genzler Amplification

Most ladies I've seen play drums bring the heat. I don't know if it just looks that way or not, but without question they can definitely bring it. Can't go wrong with "Can't Find...." In fact, I'd rather hear and play it than Purple Haze.

I hear you. I would rather necks not be painted. I prefer the finish be worn off and love that feel. With no paint and a clear finish it's not noticeable, much. With a painted neck it's kind of all or nothing.
