Thunderbird Club

My new 2012 ebony TBird, old stock that had been kicking around in one of the shops locally.. Oddly with a baked maple board! (Which I actually like, adds a snappiness).

I had grand plans about changing out the pickups and putting on chrome hardware.. But I actually like the pickups and I'm digging the black on black.

Beautiful bass and really nice hardwood floor! :)

$68. !! Seems very reasonable. Let us know how you like it.

I can tell you already, Tom. I'm really liking it! It's so much nicer to walk around with both my hands free and my bass strapped to my back. Tons of storage and more than enough padding to feel secure about my TBird in there. Have to warn you though, this bag is super long! I'm 6' even and this bag is 59" long so when it's strapped to my back the body of the bass is bouncing off my ass as I walk. Lol. If I put it any higher then it would be too high above my head. It took me a while to figure out how to wear it but now it's all good.

So I bit the bullit and went ahead ordering a 50th anniversary today...

I was on sale for $ 1579 at my local music store, and I even got them to throw in a set of DR Black Beauties for no extra charge... :)

They didn't have one physically at the store, but expect to have it by the end of the week. :D

Is there anything in States for less? I haven't been looking lately, the queen's palace is demanding upkeep, thuis taking essential $$$ from the Treasury normally reserved for Thunderbirds :wacky:

Oh, duh. I was thinking the "120th" anniversary. Rad. I was totally considering one of those gold beauties. There's one here in Vancouver but they still want $1999 for it.

LOL! :)

They are blowing out the 50th anniversary on different online stores here in Europe at the moment - www.thomann.de was actually a little cheaper and offering free shipping as well. But knowing they won't throw in a set of free strings, I asked my local shop to see if they would do so, to even out the price difference. Fortunately they did, and the price of the bass + free strings is even a tad cheaper, than if I ordered both from Thomann. Delivery time will probably be the same more or less. :)

I seriously doubt it... They seem to be going for $ 1500 - 1800 on Ebay at the moment, and there's a 2nd hand one in the classifieds going for $ 1399 at the moment. So I just couldn't pass on the deal, which equals $ 1524 when deducting the price of the strings. :)

Seen this tbird on eBay from time to time, it looks pretty cool but I bit out of my price range ATM

I've seen that one on Ebay a few times as well - it's a very nice sparkling gold, but on the expensive side, though...

However it's a custom shop, and could very well be the only one made in that colour, which could justify the price, I guess...
