Thunderbird Club

Those of you who already have a 50th anniversary, can you elaborate on whether they normally come with a black/white or brown/pink HSC?

I have seen them with both colours:

I would love to get mine with one of those black/white vanilla scented cases... :)

My 50th came with the black/white case with a dose of vanilla scent included :)

I did. I ordered a custom white one. Took about 6 months, $1,000 and about $250 shipping. It was saposed to be a neck thru, it was set neck. The headstock face was saposed to be black with white bevels, it was all white. It was saposed to be all mahogany, it was the lightest bass I've ever owned. The paint was so poorly applied I could see thru it in areas. The fretboard had paint on it and scrapes too. The pick ups were terrible it is sounded like cardboard. It was saposed to be made in Australia, it was made in china. Enough said.

I meant to comment on those, they really look like a lefty Epiphone standard bolt on neck model, the pickups, even the body (most have some slight variation) and how the headstock is shaped. So........ A shadow factory cranking out lefties

Just don't get how Gibson has/is making t birds but epi won't. With Gibsons history, they are about the last ones to make Lefty's and now they have. I'm not buying the demographic stuff, everyone from fender to Spector to ibanez makes Lefty's, there's no reason. I'd prob buy 4 or 5 myself!

Gibson's not exactly a huge player in the bass market, compared to Fender or Ibanez or EBMM. Sure, they're known, but I doubt they come anywhere close to those numbers.

I don't know what you mean by a "shadow factory", but when you assigned me a club # for this very bass, you seemed to like it enough then. It's a set neck, BTW, not bolt-on.

As for the complaint about the bass, I recall his eBay ad, raving about what a great instrument it was, esp. the paint job. I don't have any problems whatsoever with mine. It's a great instrument that records very nicely.

They may make nice guitars - But man, do they have a cheasy website! All pictures of their guitars are in the hands of skimpy dresssed girls showing way too much cleavage... What a way to sell guitars! ;)

Guitars AND girls in low cut cat suits!? That's a nice thing to wake up to in the morning. :D

Thanks for posting that shot, you're correct. I does look very much like an Epi from the front, esp the shape of the body and headstock - the pups are a dead ringer too. Most important tho is that it's a good bass for you. My second Epi turned into a nice Fenderbird and I'm hoping they'll offer some new colors on the Classic sometime soon.

I auditioned for a band last night; it'd been so long since I've played with others I'd forgotten how much fun that is. I brought TBurt along, and it was awesome. A TBird through an SVT is a pretty magical hard rock combination. Haven't heard the word yet, but I feel pretty confident I got the gig. Hearing the stories of the others that have auditioned....some people are really, really weird.

I enjoy rehearsal with my band so - making music with friends is one of life's great joys.

+1 on that...

My bandmates are also my best friends and we have great fun together, whether rehearsing or not, and occassionally take trips to shows together or just hang out with each other. :)

Thought I'd share these, I was a bird fiend and got away from them but Now I'm coming back. The flat black tokai and white one buying back, I may buy a new dillion. Those are really great basses, just really thick necks and a ton of dive with those Wilkinsons
