I'd be the very first to admit that the learning curve on the Line 6 was steep, but I had a lot to learn about my own tone at the same time - It took the help our guitarist and reading a lot of posts here on TB to learn how to shape my tone and get it to travel out into a room as something other than mud. I' ll take a look at that Sansamp, it sounds like a nice piece of gear.

FWIW that 3 point replacement looks way better than a Hipshot, if I needed one I'd go there!
You lost me on the 3 point replacement comment, explain...

Yea. I've tried em all as far as the multi's I just find myself using crap because it's there- I always come back to basics, and that's the sansamp programmable, it just lets your bass do it's thing. Trick is to keep the "blend" as low as possible using the processing of the unit at minimum and using it more for EQ and vol. the drive on mine is always off or very low- bird and sansamp- can't go wrong-

It may well be a gimmick, but if you've ever broken a string while playing you'll know that the saddle drops right out of the bridge and isn't very easy to find on a dark stage in the middle of your set. Plus I'd imagine that you wouldn't have to set intonation everytime you change strings, so it seems like a pretty useful gimmick.
On a conventiona 3 point, I can see this happening. On this bridge, where the screw is threaded through the back of the bridge, not going to happen.

So, I just happened across Jeff Babicz's facebook a while ago and saw this. The new Babicz FCH 3 point drop in replacement bridge for Gibson basses. It looks pretty awesome to me, but I've never used a Babicz bridge on anything before.

Steven, I meant this one, as a replacement for a Gibson I think it's far more attractive (and sympathetic to the bass) than a Hipshot.

Don't see it listed on his website. Looks like it might be something to look at when I redo my SS TBird.

What a great show we had tuesday night supporting Die Krupps!!!

The venue was really great - Nice stage and soundsystem and the best backstage room I've seen so far with an adjecent kitchen, where the staff cooked us a meal.

We shared backstage room with Die Krupps, who are some of the coolest and nicest guys I've met in the industrial scene.

The venue was packed and the audience were totyally digging the show! :)

We even had a fan, who left during Die Krupps's performance to get her Epi Goth T-bird for us to sign - That was a first for us! :)

Here's a picture of the stage right after soundcheck:

You are the man, Hillerup! That's great stuff!

Babitz bridge: I WILL HAVE ONE!!! It'll be another month before the next TBird comes off layaway, so I have a little time. In the meantime, I'm wishing somebody sold a gig bag for a reasonable price that was made to fit Thunderbirds, or a HSC that doesn't cost what my 'Bird did.

Ya, I've never seen a HSC under $300. Whad up wit dat?
Yorkville makes a Tbird case for $100. :D Fits like a glove & smells like vanilla cake. lol It's what I bought when I got my 'bird.

looks to me as its just about as bulky as the supertone

Not even close. It doesn't look off putting on the center block opposed to the supertone that looks out of place on a thunderbird or even any other 3 point gibson bass.

I agree. IF i were replacing my bird bridge, i'd go with this without hesitation

If they could make it fit like cake (before I caught the diabeetus, cake fit in mah belleh quite easily) and smelled like a glove, they'd be onto a whole Derek Smalls tribute/signature series thing. I'd be all over that.

Epi cases run $100-$150 new, and pretty close to a hundo used. How come somebody like Roadrunner can't do a nylon semi-hard shell case for TBirds? They do 'em for those boring P's and J's. They're 'Birdist, is what they are.

So here I am just enjoying playing my thunderbird, and then this happens:

The E string side bridge ferrule(?) just starts pulling out. Anybody ever had that happen to them? Any real solution other than installing a screw in bridge? I was planning on refinishing it soon anyways!

This is quite common. Unscrew the bridge from it, put some wood glue on it, tap it into the body, wipe up the excess glue. Let it set for at least an hour. :)
I did this on my T-bird 3 weeks ago. Hasn't bothered me since.

Also adjust the neck side screw to be higher than the two rear screws. That takes some of the pressure off the ferrules. Ease of set up and adjustment was the main reason I went to the Supertone; the three point looks cool but lacks flexibility. That said, there's still one on my second Tbird and probably will be for a while.
