You remember Kentucky well!I’ve lived through blizzards and white outs in the Rocky Mountains; floods, thunderstorms and tornadoes in Kentucky; and earth quakes and fires in California. None are fun, but some are more tolerable than others. I find for me that the longer the suspense of the impending incident is built up the more stressful it becomes. Just looking at the natural disasters I’ve been through I’d have to say the tornadoes are the most worrisome for me.
It all starts a day or more in advance as big storms move east and you hear the gloom and doom news rant 24/7 about the death and destruction already caused and it’s moving your way. Then eventually the storms reach you and you keep an ear open for the sirens and an eye on the TV weather channel.
Hours later the sirens in your area go off warning of favorable conditions for a tornado, the sky is black, rain is coming down in sheets and lightening is hitting all around you. Do you move your valuables into a safe area of the home, or do you just ride it out. Now its 2:00 in the morning and your standing watch so others in the house can sleep. Sure enough the rain turns to hail and you hear what literally sounds like a freight train right outside your home, sirens are blaring, you wake everybody up and run for cover to the basement.
Completely blind and in the dark, no power, no windows, no way to know exactly what’s going on outside, and you wait, and wait, and wait until it sounds quiet. Everybody stays in the basement while you go upstairs to see what the situation is - roof is still there at least from the inside of the house, windows aren’t broken, no water in the house. You step outside to check out the situation there. Looks like a few shingles are missing, a large pine tree is down, the Bradford pear trees are all over the yard in pieces, and the house two doors down is missing half its roof and siding. Congratulations, you and your family made it through the tornado in relatively good shape. Then you turn the TV on only to find out another cluster of storms is on the way, you get to do it all again tomorrow.
No thanks, I’ll take a normal (6.x or less) earthquake any day of the week. Usually no damage, no warning and all over in 30 seconds or less with few if any after shocks. A 7.5 or higher quake is a totally different beast and no fun at all not to mention the potential for after shocks to continue for days or weeks. And although the potential for notable quakes of that size to happen at anytime exists they are still fairly rare compared to tornadoes, which are pretty much seasonable.
Note: I’ve never been in a hurricane, so what am I doing, I’m considering moving to Hilton Head island, possibly an ignorant move on my part.
Everybody is looking at Thunderbirds and amps and is missing the $100 bill on the floor.
Bass nerds. Thunderbird porn shop.
Yeah, no point washing them yourself when you can outsource to this guy.it’s been touched by the Queen! I’d never wash it again, come to think of it, I don’t wash any of my basses.![]()
While there are primo Thunderbirds there, JIO's bass would likely be the one I would want to play first. I love that bass.
