Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative to Hiwatt amps? They're really expensive these days from what I've seen...

Well, I wanted to see if I could hear a difference between the Dano, CP, and IV on the same song with the exact same settings. Not sure if the Zoom B3n makes things sound similar or if they really are...or I am just tone deaf (very likely).

Yes, my playing. I pick songs that have repeating basslines. Too hard to remember more than an A-B-A-B...even then I have to practice a song for a long time to get close.

He isn't joking. He's the man with some kick arse rigs...the point is a good tube amp is through the roof.

We are mostly really old and bought stuff when they weren't that expensive...or currently spending our kids inheritance.

Hiwatt's are very expensive these days. Would love to own one but I can't. I ordered a SushiBox Dr Watson that is supposed to be based on the preamp of the Hiwatt DR103 model. Waiting for it to arrive so I can test it out.

While not sounding exactly like a Hiwatt old Traynor tube heads are good, also Marshall. Sound City honestly any 100w tube head paired with a 4x12 cab loaded with bass drivers will get you there. The Orange Terror Bass is also a good modern alternative.

I’m a Babicz fanboy too. I haven’t put one on the ‘21 NR yet, but my ‘15 and ‘13 NR have them. I think they look better than the Hipshots and the string height is more adjustable on the Babicz. I have a Hipshot on my Goth and had a heck of a time intonating it; I had to get Hipshot to send me different screws.

I ran into that, but they happily sent them gratis, pronto.
