I mean, it makes a fair amount of sense. That engine layout means that the drive shaft is going to be going the right direction without the use of right angle gearing, so fewer driveline losses. And if I remember correctly, those bikes were nearly unkillable. And if you have a cx650t, you really have something.
I've always had a soft spot for the vfrs, although I've never owned one. I briefly considered one for my bun burner gold a few years ago, but the fuel economy is wretched so it didn't meet requirements.
The current ride is a 2008 versys 650, and I won't sully this thread by posting a photoand yes I can call it ugly because I own it!
Another plus for the GL/CX500 - shaft drive-train! My '05 VFR800 is my 2nd VFR. Put 100k on my '93 750F. Historically great Honda model.

When I was a kid and reading comic books, I made my brother a "Thor" hammer and I made a "Captain America" shield using a discarded "Lazy Susan" (may have to look that one up...) When battling, the Lazy Susan" (where did that name originate?) broke - so much for Captain America's shield...

So those aren’t stock CP pups (unless they put cans and rings over the stock TB+ pups). Stock pups is a big reason to buy the CP. These might even be Chinabuckers, which is a step in the wrong direction. And most likely not a limited edition Eppi Tbird as advertised. That’s two strikes. The price is strike three.

Well, stock pickups are just TB+ like in Gibsons, unless something is different about the pre-2015 versions......but it is easy enough to change the covers & add rings. They also would've had to change the bridge, inserts, and tuners. Entirely plausible, since that's what I did.
As for a special model of the Classic Pro - I've never heard of one, but that doesn't really mean much, since I'm not much of an expert on the subject.
However, by the s/n, it is an early 2013, which means probably one of the first? Maybe they had a special edition of some kind at the beginning of the run?
I've heard of stranger things from Gibson/Epiphone, so.....also plausible?
But with no way to verify.......

Sorry to hear that. Might be cheaper for them to offer a healthy discount that makes keeping it worthwhile. But's GC so.....Was excited today because a new toy was scheduled for delivery from Guitar Center. It arrived, but has a crack in the face that was not mentioned in the listing on their website. I had saved the pictures from the listing and the crack is there, but it looked like a reflection, not a crack. EDIT: This is not shipping damage. The box was in great condition.

I need to open it to see if this is a finish crack or if its thru the wood into the control cavity. With the GC return policy I should not be out any money. If I keep it, and that is a BIG if, they are going to credit me some money.
Seems like pretty recently.
I remember from our last discussion of Classic Pros (a few thousand pages back at this point, I'm sure.....) that it was like 2019 or something? A lot later than I had thought.....
Thanks. I thought they had not been making them longer than even the 2013 date, for some reason. But I'm pretty ignorant about CPs.
When they do it live, you can tell she is really concentrating. Sometimes she and Chris lock into the line and play an interlude without Brian playing for a couple of minutes. It’s mesmerizing.

My serial number says February 2014 with October 2013 dates on the bottom of the TB+ pickups.
