I've heard of various musicians/singers in the 70s doing that, only on the front....A former girlfriend called the padded racing shorts, “false advertising.”

Basic cycling term reference; shorts, or bib shorts - padded shorts designed for riding a bicycle for transportation, fun, training or racing. Maybe it's because I don't usually use the word 'pants'. Jeans or slacks, or even trousers... pants makes me think of a little kid; "come on Johnny, put your pants on"
Maybe the packaging needs a sticker that claims “some settling of contents may have occurred in shipping and handling”.
Of course I suppose you could solve the problem by installing a mirror on the bedroom ceiling that has a note on it similar to your car mirror…

I’m no cyclist but IIRC the ladies shorts are padded in more than just the rump.... padded only in the saddle area
My wife (then girlfriend) use to get on me when I called shorts, "short pants." They are "shorts" I was told. I used to kid and say, "shorts" what? What's short? Pants. Short pants." Pants is the common term around here. No one uses trousers or slacks unless they are selling them or think they are impressing someone. Jeans are jeans, but mostly pants.
