Tortoiseshell would look good I think. Pretty sure you could find it in the 50's shape too.

Ashly, the Geddy preamp! Did you do the diode trick to get some distortion?
To each their own, I personally like them. Now you've gone and done it. You said the T word.![]()
I can make those - send me a PMI ordered a set from them and they arrived today. Planning to install on my ebony VP. Does anyone make an EPI TRC with silver logo that fits the VP?

Yes that’s the tubes warming up. Is there a standby switch?Since the Music Man is my first tube amp, is it normal for it to take 15-30 seconds before you get the volume expected from the settings?
Yes, and just was told what to do with itYes that’s the tubes warming up. Is there a standby switch?
No clue how to do that.
But as it is and how I use it.
It can get pretty grindy.
Not really a fan of distortion though.
I found a picture of an old RCA 6CA7 and it matches the plate holes, wires, etc. The other brands had differences that were obvious like square vs round holes or not as fat.hmmm….6CA7 is american nomenclature for the EL-34…..I’ve seen them look like that (fat envelope like 6L6s manufactured by RCA) but they usually look more like their euro counterparts……

I don't either but I recall reading about it and yes:
""smooth distortion may be produced by wiring two 1n914 diodes paralleled in opposite directions between the tip and the sleeve of a phone plug and inserting it into the effects send. A foot switch can be wired in series with the tip of the plug to switch out the distortion"...from the manual"
old Geddy "smooth distortion" question
Thanks, but...no, no, and heck no. I live in the no tort zone! I have one old bass it looks decent on, but that's it.Tortoiseshell would look good I think. Pretty sure you could find it in the 50's shape too.

No, I think sending the amp here to be used for the work of the Almighty is your only out!I guess a trip to confession and a few rosaries might work as well. Let's hope. Eternal damnation likely has no Thunderbirds.
Oh, no worries. I had forgotten myself that you didn't comment on the VP option and confused the two when I posted. I never recall doing much changing, but I fully agree with you that it can add just a little touch of spice to an instrument. Not that noticeable, but adds to the bigger picture.
You obviously have a good eye for these kinds of things and I wonder what your thoughts would be about this Pbass. The mother of toilet seat pick guard I put on it years ago has turned to an unpleasant yellow look. I was thinking of going with a late 50s gold and gold anodized aluminum pick guard. While I I'm really like black and white in that tuxedo look, white just doesn't seem to click for me here. It came with a black pick guard and that just doesn't do much for me either.

Now that I look at it, the black doesn't look that bad. Thoughts welcome.
