Suit yourself. Thanks, but...no, no, and heck no. I live in the no tort zone! I have one old bass it looks decent on, but that's it.

Thank you.
Most do like tort, it's just not for a good many of us here. But it is against international law to but tort on a Thunderbird.Planning on putting one Tortoise shell on my TBird when I finally get mine, and get a chance to get a new pickguard because I don't like white pickguards.

Was that a good thing? I've been told that kind of thing before as well and I don't think it was meant as kind advice.Yes, and just was told what to do with it![]()
Thanks JIO, I appreciate the perspective. I think I will put the black back on and see how it goes. That pearloid look was a thing when I did that and now that it's changed colors it just doesn't look good to me.All black can't be beat.

There's parchment pearl that I've used in the past on black. I was just seeing how it looked - it was on it when it was all trans-brown before re-finishing the top in black.

Eh, don't care. I know what I like. Might go black shell since the brown wouldn't contrast well with the finish. Most do like tort, it's just not for a good many of us here. But it is against international law to but tort on a Thunderbird.![]()

like this Jeff….you can do it on the bass as well….I’ll def check that out.
I do love this pre.
Simple and lots of tones in there.
just pull one out and see what’s written up on it..I found a picture of an old RCA 6CA7 and it matches the plate holes, wires, etc. The other brands had differences that were obvious like square vs round holes or not as fat.
Broke a A string? We’re you slapping?
among other things…Broke a A string? We’re you slapping?
Same with my last string break. Aggressively popping the G in the final song of the last set. Just had to play the rest of the song in a different position.among other things…
strings came from some other bass so who knows…..left the bass in the heat of the car all day as well….but yes, was playing pretty aggressive fingerstyle….fortunately it was at the end of the set….
Now that you invited me ……….just pull one out and see what’s written up on it..
you could possibly have the original set which makes them more expensive than what you paid for the amp….
if you get bored you can come to my place and we can throw them on the tester….

I have one of those that I bought months ago but never put in. Wasn’t sure it would work well for bass, although the videos on guitar sound pretty good. Have you tried one on bass yet?I'm trying this on my current build - it's a fuzz cap and very blue. I'm wiring it to the push-pull tone pot.

Excellent! We have done our job. Now you can join us to enable. Thanks for the warm welcome! Full disclosure, while I was considering a T-bird I found this thread, and you all may have inspired/enabled my initial purchase. Now that I've dipped my toes in the pool, I'm already GAS'ing for the higher models.
