Being a Fender owner I love a Maple board. That alone wouldn't have scared me off. Beautiful specimen. I like the visual contrast the maple brings.

I agree - and it's a nice shade of maple - more caramel than bleached or amber'd maple. The contrast makes the black look even blacker.

At the risk of provoking a mod and more motorcycle discussions :p... an off topic message about stupid cyber criminals. I got an email from Experian this evening that BofA made a hard credit inquiry on me today. I don't do business with BofA, so that was a tip off. I called their fraud department and was told someone ordered a $19k credit line Visa card and was approved. OK, but they used my address as the ship to address for the card. I verified that the card numbers etc. were not given out and the thief would have to receive the card before they were able to use it. So, how did they think they were going to steal from me? Dumb arse...
Have you been out drinking with a man named Viktor (but is actually Gene Takovic)?

Sometimes when I get what I suspect is a junk call I answer it LAPD Sargent North speaking, would you like to report a crime? Usually met with a delay and a click. Rarely get a call back from that number.
Note - I never use the word police or actually say anything about being a police officer, since I’m not and that would be illegal.

So what happens when LAPD Sargent North calls you and you answer that way? ;)

I get calls for duct cleaning. I give them the address of the local provincial police detachment as the place to show up.

Even guns like this??

LOL - I suppose it could happen. We do get calls every now and then supposedly from the local FOP for donations.
Of course I’d have to explain that I’m a bass player so LAPD stands for “Loud And Partially Deaf” and since I’m not famous I’m not a Major player I’m something less, a Sargent I assume. Yea, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. ;)

YEAH…but Gibson sued them right after the D-ROC 5 won “Best Bass” at NAMM a couple years ago, so they changed the body shape. I think, had Dingwall fought it in court, they likely may have won.
You don't start with a lawsuit. If anything, there was a cease and desist letter, which is an invitation to have a conversation. Probably there was a conversation that involved asking for a royalty or a design change. The answer could have been anything from "*#$^ you, sue me" to "what number do you have in mind" to "please show me the IP you claim I am infringing so that I can make suitable changes". It appears that Dingwall felt that the design change was the least expensive option.

It wouldn't fly here either, thus my ending. I understand the reason for the way the jury system selection works, but I often wondered if a professional jury pool who are always up to speed on procedures and more familiar with the law wouldn't be better in some ways. Not perfect, just maybe better.
Regardless of how you feel about the current system, I believe you are stuck with it unless you can get enough people and states on side for a constitutional amendment. IIRC the US Constitution guarantees the availability of trial by a jury of your peers.

As it is, virtually everyone in a jury pool doesn't want to be there which isn't ideal for decision making. Not to mention a good number of people are far too eager to hand out someone else's money (and stick it to a big company) or let people off the hook if they feel sorry for them.
Which is why the Judge's charge to the jury is so critical as is the verdict form to be filled in by the jury.

I think that once selected for the jury, the vast majority of jurors take the role seriously.
