Man...he should have paid you well for that pic!

Kind of you to say Donnie.
He had bigger fish to fry.

His son took the helm.

Well, :poop:!
Life moves in strange ways. I posted that pic in an effort to be a bit of a smart@$$ in reference to 3 points, etc. I'd never really looked closely at the 67 from that angle. Under the claw are three little discolored spots, which, again, I'd never noticed. Those three 'spots' appear' to be plastic wood-or something similar-filling the original mounting holes for the claw. I'd noticed over the years that it sorta looked like it was at a slight angle-'COS IT IS!
CRAP!
I've been playing it this way since I bought it in 73. IDK if it affects the playability-or the "intonatibility"-or exactly wuttinnahell I might do about it(kinda comes under the heading of "if it works,..."etc,), but startled would be a good word to describe my feeling ATM.
Hey! Maybe I could put on a 3point! I have the one I took offa my Epi EB-0...
Does it intonate? If so, forget about it and pretend you never noticed it.

Nice but over priced by a couple hundred bucks.

Not a bad deal, but if looking for a CP be patient, they frequently get listed at standard used Eppi bird prices around $400ish by sellers not aware they are anything special.
Just a general observation, nearly every used bass on that site is listed at a higher price than can easily be found elsewhere. The CP and this…
Used Danelectro 1998 Danelectro Longhorn - 1st Reissue in rare Burgandy Burst!
were about the only things I saw that were near normal asking prices.

That is the same model as mine and while I love it, that price is high for it.
Agree, I paid less than half that price for my 1990 Greco just a little over a year ago. Shop around, there are better deals.

I don’t know. If those are the pickups everyone raves about, I’d pay that price. What do the Greco experts sat?
I’d pass. $1200 for a nice clean Greco bird of any year is as much as I’d pay. That one is over $1500 with tax and shipping.

Yep, $400 for my CP with original Epi case. Find a guitar player that decided to give bass a try. They are typically clueless as to what bass is what...:D

The trouble is that doing the same thing over and over can get boring; both for the fans and for the band.

Doing the same thing over and over has worked for AC/DC, but I think they are the exception rather than the rule. The bands I have followed for decades have all progressed in their music. Had they not, I probably would have gotten bored and they may have to.

Consider Rush. They have had distinct periods, each punctuated by a live album (first album being the exception - an era of 1 album). The first period was the side long epics. Great stuff, but I wouldn't still be listening if they hadn't gone beyond that. Then there was the new wave era. Very interesting at the time, but again I would have gotten bored. Certainly throughout all the eras, you could hear what they were listening to in their music, but their music always came through. Progress while being true to themselves.

Even Metallica, after doing 4 albums essentially the same, they found a need to move on. They lost some fans because they "sold out" (friends don't let friends cut their hair) but they probably gained more than they lost.

Well… on AC/DC there WAS progress through the Bon era albums. You could see improvement (hear I guess) album to album. IMO of course.

Also, it has been quoted over the years that big brother George was strong on them to stick to their knitting. Deliver what is expected.
I have my own theory on why. The Easybeats went to England during tge 60s and like everyone else just about were in the shadows of The Beatles who were changing up their styles all the time. The Easybeats started changing up their styles as well until coming back to a simpler rock n roll sound at the end of their days.
My theory is that they regretted it.

Well, if I trusted the consistency of Gibson & Epiphone pickguard screw placement (I don’t)… I’d say you can see the placement of the neck pickup to that screw. It is a wholly past the screw. In my Gibson the top of the neck pick up is a little north of the screw.

That said. Safer to assume the screws are in the same place.
Are Not in the same place I meant!

I've thought about replacing the 3 point on my 67 NR.
Wait...

I don’t get weepy eyed over “vintage” anything, but that sumbich is my runaway favorite of all the many lustworthy instruminks what gets posted here regularly. Pure perfection!

I’ll message you my address.
