So.......The "spare room" is filled with basses.

Put him in there and he won't be doing much sleeping anyway. Too many distractions.

I wish. But I have another gear purchase in the works once I start working again. Should be a couple weeks or so. And besides, my wife figured out how many basses I have. I think my son ratted me out even though they’re all in plain view, just in a bunch of different places.
Need to ask your son what it feels like to have previously been in a will. There has to be a heavy price to pay for that kind of thing.

^^^This. The temperature and humidity changes likely caused it. It also may have been bounced around during shipping.
Ken, I would just make sure the ground wire is in place, put a bit of wood glue on that ferrule and tap it back in. Leave it overnight before re-installing the bridge.
Will wood glue grip a nonporous material (ferrule)? I wouldn't think so, so just checking.

The trouble with blackmail. Once you give up the information, you no longer have a hold on the victim. But if you never reveal the inf, your sincerity in using it comes into doubt. The best blackmail involves two pieces of information. You can reveal the least bad as a demonstration of willingness to release the devastating.

Not that I have put a lot of thought into this...
That you seem to have more than an average amount of information in this area is spooking me a little. Can I have all those pics, and negatives from our Princess Fingers Club meetings? Please. I'll pay shipping.

I never actually saw a ground wire from under the bridge, but it's now quiet with the ferrule back down and the bridge reinstalled and restrung.

LOL - you know I should be able to answer that question right off the top of my head, but truth be told, I don’t really positively know for sure. I suspect my 1997 911 has an electric pump and not a spare tire air feed. But I never drive the car in the rain and have never used the wipers or washers or refilled the washer tank. So I really don’t know for sure without confirming. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see it on the early 911 and 356 models.

edit: just checked, as I suspected, it’s electric.
Not driving in the rain explains why you are still alive... ;):D

I am always amused that the 911 evolved from the Beetle (and the lineage is clear to anyone with eyes.

Greyhound vs boxer. Except that the greyhound can run in the rain without crashing.

The wire isn't actually under the bridge like flat-mount style bridges (even though that's technically what the Babicz is, but its mounting is still based on the 3-point) - it's in the hole with the ferrule, ime pinned between it and the wall of the hole..

Not always easy to spot, as it's usually mashed flat, nearly embedded into the wood.

Ah, so I guess pushing back in the ferrule reseated the ground wire?

I was wondering if it had a wireless ground. :D

Great score on that one, should you ever take it apart, please take a shot of the underside of the pickups, would love to know what's there!

You recall at the first meeting we discussed "mutually assured destruction" You don't show mine and I won't show yours.

With Gibson, who knows?

But yeah, re-seating the ferrule should have fixed the ground wire back into place.

As long as it's making good contact with the metal of the ferrule, the exact position of the wire doesn't matter over much.
