Thunderbird Club

I'll have to check it out when I'm in Carpinteria next. (where Beths sister lives) I ride my bike from Carpinteria to Ventura & back - sweet flat ride along the coast mostly on a very nice recently built bike path. 2hrs total.
Next time you’re in Carp let me know, we’ll catch a bite at Padaro Beach Grill.

They must want to keep it and priced it accordionistly…

less than $800 invested in 2 new ones… and no donkey dick headstocks…

LOL - I was thinking Batwing headstock, but ok…:wideyed:
On the plus side, I’ve heard some pretty rave reviews about the sounds from the vintage ones, and pretty strong rants about their neck dive. Never played one, so no idea if reviews are accurate, but I think somebody here (Donny???) might have one.

I played one at the Chicago Music Exchange and it sounded ok. I also played a '62 Jazz and it was amazing. It was also $25,000.00. I just thought it was cool to be plugged in and left in the room alone. I guess they figured I could have flashed a gold-card.

Cool, ping me once you nail the date down and I’ll be there. The Padaro Beach Grill in Carp is a great little informal lunch place and a nice stop to rehydrate after a bike ride.

I know where it is - I've seen it walking toward the beach.

I do hope you'll share the project with us, pictures please :)

Oh-oo, you talked me into it...dug out the 'bird and took a few pics of where it's at right now...pickups bought, cavities routed (and then some...oops...got putty)...just waiting to take time to do it at the new house.

I hooked the hot wire in the middle rivet of the volume controls, dry, and laid the braid on the back of the pots, fixed with tape. I get a faint sound, tapping with a screwdriver, pots on high...
No 60 cycle hum, tho. Just not enough output...all parts check out with multimeter.

Interesting project.

checking this thing out….yanked the bridge cover….from the colored balls and red silks, purdy sure it’s 66’s… fairly new too…two octave fb….dunno if the original pickup on this model was a Dimarzio (as in many) or the SD (wish i knew what model) that’s there now…. one thing that seems certain is the controls having been completely bypassed as only volume seems to do anything……the neck is Pish, so’s the tone…

What's wrong with the neck?

Love this club and all the people in it, so many great posts with tips and tricks and special interest and humor, and even some thunderbird content. However, I’m not a fan of the newly increased advertisements. As a supporting member I used to only get one ad at the header of each 20 post page, no big deal. Now I’m getting at least four ads every 20 posts and it’s getting annoying, even more so when they’re embedded between posts vs at the header or footer. A 400% increase in ad space seems a bit excessive. Is anyone else seeing this?

I've been thinking the same thing. Makes me wonder what non-supporting members see - one comment per four ads?

It’s such an effective blocker that it even blocks your “likes” of other posts. :)
Sometime back, I discovered that if I "liked" posts and then followed a 'link' somebody posted all my likes disappeared and I had to re-like them, which got to be a PITA. So now I read everything and either reply(if I have something to say)-or not-or post an emoji.
Such as::smug:, or o_O, or :eyebrow:/:bag:.
